Job description

TRC is working alongside a nimble firm in the aerospace arena that is seeking an Aerospace Engineer to help develop next-generation spacecraft, small satellites, reentry capsules, and hypersonic flight systems. As a Senior Avionics Engineer, you will lead the design, development, integration, and testing of avionics hardware, including PCBs, power systems, telemetry, instrumentation, and embedded electronics, supporting programs from concept through flight test. US Citizenship required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop avionics subsystems, power systems, PCBs, wiring harnesses, and electronic assemblies.

  • Perform analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design for control, communication, propulsion, and power applications.

  • Conduct requirements development, trade studies, verification testing, and release-to-production activities.

  • Integrate and validate custom and COTS avionics hardware for ground and flight systems.

  • Support avionics mission assurance, safety requirements, and process improvements.

Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

  • Hands-on experience with PCB design, schematic capture, integration, and testing (Altium preferred).

  • Experience with microcontrollers, power management/distribution, RF systems, and sensor interfaces.

  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, including Ethernet communications and ARM-based systems.

  • Proficiency using electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, etc.).

  • Understanding of EMI, bonding, grounding, and systems engineering principles.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • MS degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Aerospace, spacecraft, UAV, aircraft, or launch vehicle avionics experience.

  • Familiarity with UART, RS-232/422/485, CAN, SPI, Ethernet, RTDs, thermocouples, and industrial I/O.

  • Knowledge of aerospace and military standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, RCC-319/324, and NASA-8739.
