Job description

Mercury's Microsystems business is seeking a Product Engineer I to join our growing, engaging, and collaborative Engineering team supporting the Data Management and Microelectronics group. In this role, you will support New Product Initiatives (NPI) launch and mature product sustainment activities for the Microsystems Aerospace product line, contributing to the delivery of leading-edge secure microelectronics that are game-changing and impactful to our nation's defense. As a successful Product Engineer I, you will develop technical skills and build relationships with teammates, leadership, and external partners while working collaboratively across functions to execute innovative solutions that meet business objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support product engineering, development, and analysis of microelectronic and SMT assemblies and their constituent parts including multiple die/chiplets, interposers, Ball-Grid-Array (BGA) substrates, printed-wiring-boards, packages, and materials
  • Assist in providing product engineering support to customers during design cycles and participate in customer meetings throughout the NPI process from kickoff through production release
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration between stakeholders including engineering disciplines, customers, vendors, operations/manufacturing, supply chain, quality, contracts, configuration/data management, and other supporting organizations
  • Assist operations and manufacturing teams with setup, process development, tracking, work instructions, and documentation as products transition from development to production
  • Support products and devices through manufacturing, test, and delivery processes while helping balance system attributes including performance, cost, schedule, producibility, yield, reliability, and supportability
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including specifications, plans, procedures, and analysis results
  • Support program and project management activities with planning, organizing, scheduling, and project execution while investigating solutions to product and process problems

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline
  • Typically requires a minimum of 0-2 years of relevant work experience in semiconductor and/or microelectronics area (new graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Basic knowledge of process development in a design environment and familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (e.g., Oracle, Agile)
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, procedures, and reports, along with understanding of manufacturing processes and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, eagerness to learn, and willingness to help the team in areas outside of specific technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle or Agile PLM systems
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Exposure to Atlassian tool suite including Jama, Confluence, and Jira
  • Internship or co-op experience in aerospace, defense, or microelectronics industries
  • Understanding of manufacturing readiness planning and risk management concepts
