Job description

Johnson Service Group is seeking an experienced and innovative Aerospace Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of electrical and embedded software solutions for aerospace applications. This is a Direct hire job for a Electronics company in Chatsworth, CA.
Salary: $90K DOE
 This position offers the opportunity to work on advanced aerospace technologies supporting both flight and simulator instrumentation, while contributing to products that demand precision, reliability, and engineering excellence.

  • Design, develop, implement, and validate electrical systems, embedded software, and automated test equipment for aerospace applications.
  • Develop and improve manufacturing and production test equipment, processes, and procedures to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and project engineering teams to define product requirements and system architecture.
  • Design electrical and electronic solutions based on customer requirements and product specifications for aircraft flight and simulator instrumentation.
  • Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing to verify product functionality, reliability, and compliance.
  • Support product certification activities through technical documentation, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), requirements traceability, and compliance with aerospace quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and optimize electrical hardware, embedded software, and production assemblies to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Diagnose circuit assembly failures to the component level and perform repairs using standard electronic test equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, peer reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, and design records.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to products and engineering processes.
  • Perform other engineering-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, embedded systems, or electronic test development, preferably within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop high-reliability systems that meet rigorous aerospace performance, quality, and safety standards, including AS9100 requirements.
  • Strong experience designing and developing embedded electronic systems.
  • Proficiency with:
    • C and C++
    • VHDL
    • PLC Programming and Ladder Logic
    • Embedded microprocessors
    • CPLDs and FPGAs
    • Motion controllers and sensor integration
    • Digital and analog circuit design
    • PCB design and layout: Altium Designer
    • Electronic troubleshooting and bench testing
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and other electronic test equipment such as LabVIEW
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective engineering solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and up to 15 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work with electronic tools, laboratory equipment, and test instrumentation.
  • Ability to work at a computer and on the production floor as required.
