Role Description
The Structures Design Engineer isresponsible for supporting the design, documentation, certification, andinstallation of structural modifications for transport category aircraftundergoing VIP interior completion and modification programs. This roledevelops engineering solutions that support the integration of aircraftinteriors, monuments, systems, and structural installations while ensuringcompliance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, andengineering best practices. The position provides direct support to aircraftproduction activities and assists in resolving technical issues throughout thecompletion process.
Essential Job Functions
• Develop structural design solutions for VIPaircraft interior completion and modification projects in accordance withaircraft manufacturer requirements and engineering best practices.
• Create and revise 2D and 3D engineeringdrawings, installation packages, and technical documentation supportingaircraft structural modifications.
• Design and document aircraft primary andsecondary structural modifications required for the installation of cabinmonuments, furnishings, mechanical systems, and aircraft equipment.
• Interface with Structural, MechanicalSystems, Electrical, Avionics, Interior Design, and Certification Engineeringteams to ensure certifiable and manufacturable designs.
• Support Supplemental Type Certificate (STC)programs involving transport category aircraft operating under 14 CFR Part 25regulations.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and productionteams to provide engineering support during fabrication and installationactivities.
• Assist in resolving production-relateddesign issues and support disposition of engineering discrepancies.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications,and installation requirements to ensure compliance with customer expectations,quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and technicalmeetings to support project execution and schedule objectives.
• Coordinate with suppliers and outsideservice vendors regarding engineering requirements and design integrationactivities.
• Support certification activities throughpreparation of engineering documentation and compliance data packages.
• Maintain engineering documentation andrevision control in accordance with company procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvementinitiatives focused on engineering efficiency, quality, and production support.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education andExperience
• Bachelor of Science Degree in MechanicalEngineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a relatedengineering discipline required.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of engineeringexperience supporting aircraft interiors, aircraft modifications, aerospacestructures, or related engineering disciplines.
• Experience with transport category aircraft,aircraft interiors, or FAA-certified modification programs preferred.
• Familiarity with aircraft certificationrequirements and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) processes preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a validpassport and travel internationally as required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver'slicense and meet company insurance requirements.
• Must successfully pass required backgroundscreening and drug testing requirements.
Required Skills and Abilities
• Proficiency with AutoCAD required;SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Officeapplications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of aircraft structures, mechanicalsystems, engineering documentation standards, and design practices.
• Ability to create clear, concise, andaccurate engineering documentation and installation instructions.
• Understanding of FAA regulations andaircraft certification principles related to aircraft modifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solvingskills.
• Ability to communicate technical conceptseffectively to engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
• Strong organizational and time-managementskills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
