Role Description

The Structures Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, documentation, certification, and installation of structural modifications for transport category aircraft undergoing VIP interior completion and modification programs. This role develops engineering solutions that support the integration of aircraft interiors, monuments, systems, and structural installations while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and engineering best practices. The position provides direct support to aircraft production activities and assists in resolving technical issues throughout the completion process.


Essential Job Functions

Develop structural design solutions for VIP aircraft interior completion and modification projects in accordance with aircraft manufacturer requirements and engineering best practices.

Create and revise 2D and 3D engineering drawings, installation packages, and technical documentation supporting aircraft structural modifications.

Design and document aircraft primary and secondary structural modifications required for the installation of cabin monuments, furnishings, mechanical systems, and aircraft equipment.

Interface with Structural, Mechanical Systems, Electrical, Avionics, Interior Design, and Certification Engineering teams to ensure certifiable and manufacturable designs.

Support Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) programs involving transport category aircraft operating under 14 CFR Part 25 regulations.

Coordinate with manufacturing and production teams to provide engineering support during fabrication and installation activities.

Assist in resolving production-related design issues and support disposition of engineering discrepancies.

Review engineering drawings, specifications, and installation requirements to ensure compliance with customer expectations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Participate in design reviews and technical meetings to support project execution and schedule objectives.

Coordinate with suppliers and outside service vendors regarding engineering requirements and design integration activities.

Support certification activities through preparation of engineering documentation and compliance data packages.

Maintain engineering documentation and revision control in accordance with company procedures.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on engineering efficiency, quality, and production support.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.

Minimum of 2-5 years of engineering experience supporting aircraft interiors, aircraft modifications, aerospace structures, or related engineering disciplines.

Experience with transport category aircraft, aircraft interiors, or FAA-certified modification programs preferred.

Familiarity with aircraft certification requirements and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) processes preferred.

Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport and travel internationally as required.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet company insurance requirements.

Must successfully pass required background screening and drug testing requirements.


Required Skills and Abilities

Proficiency with AutoCAD required; SolidWorks experience preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of aircraft structures, mechanical systems, engineering documentation standards, and design practices.

Ability to create clear, concise, and accurate engineering documentation and installation instructions.

Understanding of FAA regulations and aircraft certification principles related to aircraft modifications.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
