The AEM Core Technical Lead is responsible for designing and delivering AEM and related integrationplatform solutions throughout the full project lifecycle, working in close collaboration with partner teams. This role provides handson technical leadership, guiding development teams to successfully deliver business and technical requirements.

The AEM Core Technical Lead also supports existing AEM implementations by driving enhancements, resolving defects, and ensuring the platform remains scalable, performant, and aligned with best practices.

In addition to deep technical expertise in AEM and integrated platforms, this role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain trusted relationships with business stakeholders and implementation partners. The position operates with a high degree of autonomy and requires proactive initiative, sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to introduce best practices and innovative solutions.

This position will sit onsite full-time Berlin, CT reporting to the Director of Applications Development.  

What you will be doing 

  • Design and define technical solutions aligned to business requirements, review proposals with technical leadership, document architecture, and lead solution development with delivery teams.
  • Ensure successful delivery of enterprisescale AEM integrations, supporting complex upstream and downstream system dependencies.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders during the discovery phase to gather functional and technical requirements, translating them into welldocumented AEM solution designs.
  • Define and present development approaches, estimates, and effort plans to technical leadership for review and approval.
  • Remain handson with AEM features and capabilities, contributing directly to custom development, backend integrations, and complex implementations alongside the development team.
  • Apply innovative and outofthebox thinking to introduce best practices, reusable frameworks, and scalable development approaches.
  • Propose alternative technical solutions to improve efficiency, reusability, and longterm sustainability while meeting business goals.
  • Perform design and code reviews, providing technical guidance and direction throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to architectural standards, governance, and development guidelines to ensure compliance, quality, and consistency across teams.
  • Drive project scope, timelines, and delivery plans aligned to solution complexity and business priorities.
  • Work effectively within Agile methodologies, supporting iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong customer relationships through clear communication, collaboration, and proactive stakeholder engagement.

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years delivering enterprisescale digital and web solutions.
  • 5+ years developing with AEM Touch UI (6.4+ / AEM as a Cloud Service).
  • 6+ years architecting and delivering complex AEM site builds, including:
  • Editable Templates, Touch UI Components (React, Sightly/HTL, Java, Angular)
  • Servlets, Services, and thirdparty integrations
  • ContextHub, Campaigns, Content & Experience Fragments
  • MSM, Replication workflows, Dispatcher configuration
  • Multitenant architectures and styling systems
  • Performance tuning, SEO diagnostics, and analytics instrumentation
  • Experience integrating Salesforce, commerce platforms, and product management systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of GitHub/Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, and modern DevOps workflows.
  • Experience with cloud hosting, CI/CD design, and GDPR customization.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and ability to balance technical excellence with business outcomes.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with broad digital and web technology expertise.

Technical Skills

  • Extensive handson experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) including Components, Editable Templates, Client Libraries, Workflows, Content Publishing, Tagging, Taxonomy, Metadata, Campaigns, Analytics, Targeting, and Replication.
  • Strong expertise in AEM architecture and capabilities, including MSM (Blueprints, Live/Language Copies), Multitenant implementations, Dispatcher configuration (sling mapping, vhosts, URL rewrites), and AEM Cloud & onprem deployments.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise AEM solutions, including content fragments, contexts, Sling Models, OSGi configuration, data layers, and personalization frameworks.
  • Handson experience with thirdparty integrations (Search, Authentication, Web Services, CRM, CDN, Analytics, and Marketing platforms).
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms such as Magento (Adobe Commerce) and Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
  • Skilled in performance optimization, SEO troubleshooting, serverside caching, and frontend/serverside debugging.
  • Strong understanding of analytics, targeting, and tag management using Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Adobe Target, Google Tag Manager, and Adobe Launch.
  • Experience driving CI/CD pipelines, cloud hosting strategies, and secure, scalable deployment models.
  • Excellent knowledge of secure coding standards, code quality, design patterns, and AEM best practices; regular contributor to code reviews.
  • Proven mentor and technical lead, coaching junior developers and owning technical excellence across AEM delivery teams.
  • Adobe certifications (ACE - AEM Architect, AEM Developer, AEM Advanced Developer) a plus.
