Base Compensation: $83,000 - $98,000 USD

Bonus Eligible: Yes

Associate role is eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on individual and company performance.

Valuation & Financial Advisory Associate - Job Description Role Overview:

As an Associate in Houlihan Capital’s Valuation and Financial Advisory practice, you will be an integral part of a high-performing team focused on delivering high-quality financial analyses and reports for a diverse range of client valuation needs, including Fair Value Measurement, Financial Reporting, Fair Market Value, Tax Reporting, and Transaction Opinions.

The position provides a unique opportunity to utilize valuation techniques across all types of illiquid investments (including debt, preferred equity, common equity, options, crypto assets, structured products, and more) across a wide variety of industries for private equity funds, venture capital funds, corporations, and many other clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Populate Excel-based valuation models used to value equity, debt, and other illiquid securities for financial reporting, tax, and transaction-related purposes.
  • Review, understand, and synthesize client-provided materials such as financial data, operating agreements, transaction documents, company presentations, and other essential documents.
  • Assist in drafting client presentations and reports, preparing supporting tables, charts, and exhibits that communicate findings.
  • Produce high-quality financial analyses including operating model builds, pro forma capitalization structures, and sensitivity analyses
  • Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and company-specific issues that will help client analyses.
  • Work closely with internal team members and clients on multiple engagements to ensure alignment on objectives.
  • Update the project manager on progress toward completion, client-provided information gaps, analytical challenges, and key assumptions.
  • Effectively prioritize tasks across multiple, simultaneous engagements, ensuring tight deadlines are consistently met without compromising quality.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and manage competing demands by maintaining organized workflows, anticipating bottlenecks, and proactively communicating progress with team members and clients.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred majors include Finance, Accounting, and Economics.
  • MBA preferred; CFA, or other relevant professional designation viewed favorably.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in performing valuations for financial reporting or tax purposes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts in a clear and engaging way.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. Experience with financial databases like S&P Capital IQ, Pitchbook, or Bloomberg is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage simultaneous engagements, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Akeen eye for detail, particularly in reviewing financial and legal documents.
