DescriptionThe Advising Navigator plays a key role in supporting the daily functions of the advising office. Responsibilities include responding to departmental emails and phone inquiries, assisting first-year students with course planning, and helping them navigate college systems and platforms. This position also provides guidance to all students by connecting them with appropriate academic and support resources to promote their success.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities- Assists students with navigation of course and student service platforms, including Blackboard, Self Service, and BaronOne.
- Providing students with resources to assist with college skills including time management, study skills, and other college success skills.
- Presentations to classes about college skills, academic advising, and college resources.
- Provides triage services for in-person or virtual advising queues.
- Assists with administrative tasks, including advising email, phones, and reporting.
- Maintain standards of confidentiality and privacy in accordance with the College, FERPA, student records, and any other protected documentation.
- Assists Academic Advising staff with student-centered activities.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsEducation Required:Bachelor's Degree required, preferred in psychology, social work, education or related field
Experience Required:- Minimum of at least one year of experience working in a higher education setting.
Experience Preferred:
- Knowledge of academic advising principles within an open-admissions environment.
- Experience working with community college students or first year students.
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:- Experience using technology for organization, communication, assessment, and program development.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with academic and student service team members.
- Strong verbal, presentation, writing, and listening skills
- Understanding and knowledge of student and institutional resources
Additional InformationINSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
