What is an advertising model?

An Advertising Model is a professional hired to promote products, brands, or services in advertisements, commercials, and marketing campaigns. They may appear in print ads, television commercials, social media promotions, and online content. Their role is to represent a brand in a visually appealing way to attract potential customers. Advertising models often work with photographers, directors, and stylists to achieve the desired look for a campaign. They may also need to follow specific guidelines on poses, expressions, and attire based on brand requirements.

What does an advertising model do?

A typical workday for an Advertising Model may involve preparing for and attending photo shoots or video sessions, collaborating with stylists, makeup artists, and brand representatives, and following creative direction to capture the desired look and mood for advertising campaigns. Models often have to travel to various locations, spend time waiting between shoots, and participate in fittings or rehearsals. Flexibility is important, as schedules can change with little notice based on client needs or production timelines. You’ll also spend time networking, updating your portfolio, and attending castings or auditions, which are essential for career advancement in the field.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an advertising model?

To succeed as an Advertising Model, you need a photogenic appearance, confidence in front of cameras, and the ability to interpret and embody brand identities. Experience with professional photo shoots, posing techniques, and portfolios are often required, while training or workshops in modeling can also be beneficial. Reliability, adaptability, and strong communication skills set top models apart by helping them work effectively with photographers, directors, and creative teams. These abilities are crucial for representing products authentically and maintaining a positive reputation in a competitive industry.

How do you become an advertising model?

To become an advertising model, individuals typically build a professional portfolio, gain experience through local or online modeling opportunities, and seek representation from modeling agencies. Success often depends on appearance, confidence, and the ability to work with photographers and clients, with some roles requiring specific height, weight, or age criteria.

How much do advertising models get paid?

Advertising models typically earn between $25 and $150 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, location, and the type of campaign. Rates can vary widely, with top models or those working for major brands earning higher compensation, and some may also receive additional benefits or royalties for their work.

Job description

Bumble Inc. is looking for an experienced, motivated, and resourceful Advertising Partnerships Managerto drive revenue across our app portfolio. As one of the first members of our Ads team - sitting within the Product & Business Operations organization - you'll help shape the future of Bumble's advertising strategy.
This is a sales role first and foremost, focused on building high-value advertising partnerships with brands and agencies, driving direct revenue, and managing campaigns from pitch to execution. You'll also play a key role in growing our business by bringing back marketplace feedback to inform go-to-market plans and influence our ad product roadmap.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of selling strategic digital advertising solutions, along with strong account and project management skills. You're just as comfortable securing RFPs and crafting proposals as you are managing day-to-day client relationships and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver best-in-class campaigns.
What You'll Do
  • Identify, prospect, and secure new advertising partnerships through proactive outbound outreach, cultivating strategic relationships, and building market awareness of Bumble's growing in-app advertising capabilities.
  • Drive advertising revenue growth by managing, strengthening, and expanding relationships with brand and agency partners to deliver high-performing, strategic campaigns across Bumble's portfolio of apps.
  • Manage both inbound advertiser interest and a robust outbound sales pipeline, ensuring a balanced approach to driving new business, test opportunities, and long-term growth.
  • Oversee end-to-end campaign execution - including gathering creative assets, coordinating timelines, and managing campaign setup - while partnering with Ad Operations to deliver accurate reporting, performance insights, and optimizations.
  • Resolve day-to-day operational issues swiftly to minimize revenue-impacting blockers and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Help shape Bumble's advertising go-to-market strategy by gathering and synthesizing client feedback, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and influencing the sales strategy and ad product roadmap to drive innovation.
  • Develop and refine sales enablement tools - including insights, narratives, presentations, and case studies - to support revenue growth, client education, and marketplace positioning for this emerging offering.
  • Collaborate across Product, Marketing, Comms, Legal, Finance, and Engineering to ensure campaigns are executed flawlessly and strategic priorities are aligned across the business.
  • Serve as a key contributor to the global advertising sales strategy, partnering on high-priority initiatives and helping to launch new ad products, formats, and monetization opportunities worldwide.

About You
  • You bring advanced experience selling digital advertising solutions and are recognised as a trusted partner by brands, agencies, and internal stakeholders alike.
  • Typically requires 5+ years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills.
  • You have a strong understanding of the European advertising ecosystem, including brand and agency dynamics, mobile app advertising, and both direct-sold and emerging ad solutions.
  • You're confident owning complex deal cycles - from RFP response and proposal development through to negotiation, execution, and post-campaign analysis.
  • You apply AI thoughtfully in your work, using tools to enhance prospecting, proposal development, pipeline forecasting, and performance insights while staying curious about new capabilities.
  • You communicate with clarity and influence, tailoring narratives and presentations for senior client stakeholders and internal leaders with equal confidence.
  • You collaborate with purpose across global teams, take ownership of outcomes, and adapt plans as conditions evolve - demonstrating excellence through follow-through.
  • You're motivated by Bumble's mission and role-model our values through inclusive behaviour, sound judgment, and a commitment to building advertising that adds value for people, not just platforms.

$110,000 - $135,000 a year
