Job description


The Sr. Marketing Manager, Brand, Advertising, In-Store Experience, will drive the strategic direction and execution of marketing initiatives across our Retail Brand, Owned Brands, Advertising and In-Store Experience. This role will be responsible for enhancing brand equity, driving store and online transactions, and optimizing the in-store customer journey to drive engagement, loyalty, and revenue.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, data-driven marketer with expertise in retail marketing, owned brand management, and in-store marketing. They will work cross-functionally to leverage customer insights, sales data, and competitive analysis to develop and execute high-impact marketing strategies that support business growth. This role also requires strong project management skills, leadership experience, direct oversight of external agencies and the ability to communicate effectively across teams and present to senior leadership.
Responsibilities
1. Retail Brand Strategy & Execution
• Develop and execute the AutoZone brand strategy to enhance customer perception and loyalty
• Oversee brand positioning, messaging, and creative direction across all marketing channels
• Partner with cross-functional teams (eCommerce, merchandising, operations) to ensure brand consistency in all customer touchpoints
• Lead brand awareness campaigns, sponsorships, and partnerships to expand brand reach
• Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory standards for all marketing and communication efforts
• Manage relationships with external agencies to develop campaigns, creative assets, and branding initiatives
2. Owned Brands Growth & Marketing
• Lead marketing and brand development strategies for owned brands, ensuring differentiation and meaningful market positioning
• Partner with internal stakeholders and external agencies to develop key brand attributes (e.g., name, logo, design system)
• Use consumer research, competitive audits, and sales data to optimize product positioning and drive owned brand growth
• Develop creative briefs to inform business and communication objectives, brand positioning, and campaign execution
• Work closely with merchandising and product development teams to align marketing strategies with product launches and category goals
• Ensure consistency in voice and visual creative across all marketing touchpoints, including packaging, signage, and digital content
3. Advertising Creative Management
• Oversee the creative development and execution of advertising campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand identity and marketing objectives
• Work closely with Creative, Media, and Digital teams to develop compelling TV, radio, print, social, and digital advertising
• Manage external creative agencies, production partners, and media agencies to produce high-quality, effective campaigns
• Ensure advertising creative is data-driven, customer-centric, and optimized for engagement and conversion
• Develop storytelling strategies that enhance brand equity and reinforce key product messages
4. In-Store Experience & Shopper Engagement
• Lead in-store marketing initiatives, including signage, displays, and experiential activations
• Develop strategies to optimize store layouts and merchandising to enhance the customer journey and drive conversion
• Partner with store operations teams to ensure a seamless execution of in-store marketing programs
• Work closely with Creative, Brand, Digital Experience, and Merchandising teams to develop digital content and in-store signage
5. Data-Driven Marketing & Performance Optimization
• Analyze marketing analytics, sales data, and customer insights to refine marketing strategies and measure success
• Establish and report on key KPIs, including brand awareness & preference, owned brand penetration, and in-store engagement metrics
• Continuously test and optimize campaigns to improve performance and effectiveness
• Lead the development of annual marketing plans and provide direct visibility to senior leadership
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising, Communications, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in marketing, brand management, or owned brand strategy within a national retailer, CPG company, or ad agency
• Experience in automotive aftermarket, consumer goods, or specialty retail is a plus
• Strong background in brand development, consumer validation, packaging, and go-to-market strategy
• Exceptional project management and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Experience presenting to and working with senior leadership
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work cross-functionally with merchandising, operations, and creative teams
