Job description

Our History:
The Storyteller Overland vibe started out as a drawing on a restaurant napkin in 2017 illustrating a desire to help people live more adventurous lives. Back then, very few had ever heard of an adventure van, and some at the restaurant table with CEO Jeffrey Hunter had doubts it would ever sell.
The company officially launched in 2018 with a humble yet confident team of seven employees. Over the next year, we worked on launching our MODE 4x4 and finding dealer partners to work with, and finally, the dream was turning into a reality.
We've been fortunate to be full speed ahead since then. We've added sister companies to our galaxy and built out quite the impressive team - hopefully you included. We hit 500 vans built, then 1,000, then so many more that these milestones became difficult to keep track of. We've added new vehicles to our lineup and have built a massive community of like-minded adventurers that also continues to grow.
Today, Storyteller Overland is the most expansive adventure vehicle company in North America built on an authentic spirit of adventure, a passion for exceptionally well-crafted rigs, and a deep love and affinity for the community of owners we serve.
As we reflect on our history, though, we remind ourselves that our best ideas are still ahead of us, not behind us. Here's to saying yes to the next grand adventure!
Workplace Vibe:
We are proud to have a values-based culture, which means we focus less on rules & transacting and more on values & transforming. Our goal is to create workplaces and spaces where great people can do great things in order to thrive and flourish both professionally and personally.
Overview:
Storyteller Overland is seeking a Social & Narrative Marketing Manager who owns our organic storytelling - across social, blog, email, and community - and operates with the mindset of an owner, not a task executor. You will plan, create, and manage content across every owned channel, and because that content calendar is so closely tied to everything we do, you'll also own the master marketing calendar that keeps launches, campaigns, and evergreen content moving in lockstep across
the business.
This is a highly autonomous, strategy through execution-focused role. You instinctively know how to turn a build, a trip, or a community story into content that stops the scroll and deepens the connection people already have with this brand - and you know how to keep a calendar with a dozen moving parts from ever feeling chaotic. AI should already be a core part of your daily workflow, enabling you to move faster, generate better ideas, and produce more content without losing your voice.
General Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Own STO's social media strategy and day-to-day execution across Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, X, and emerging platforms.
  • Plan, create, and manage a consistent content and posting cadence that reflects the STO brand voice.
  • Own the blog and editorial calendar, producing inspirational, product, practical, and community content.
  • Own STO's email/newsletter content in partnership with the cross-functional teams.
  • Build and own the master marketing calendar, aligning product launches, campaigns, events, PR moments, and content drops across the business.
  • Translate the master marketing calendar into channel-specific content calendars for social, email, and blog.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, PR, events, and sales to confirm launch timing and messaging before anything goes live.
  • Proactively flag calendar conflicts, gaps, or bottlenecks and propose solutions - don't wait to be asked.
  • Source, brief, and manage photo/video needs for content, working with internal creative talent and outside photographers/videographers (when applicable).
  • Build and manage a steady pipeline of authentic, community-sourced content (owner stories, their vehicles, trips, etc).
  • Identify and develop new storytelling formats (video series, community spotlights, behind-the-build content, etc.).
  • Serve as a guardian of the STO brand voice across every piece of owned content.
  • Partner with the PR & Influencer function to ensure content, social, and earned media reinforce the same narrative.
  • Coordinate timing across paid, earned, and owned efforts so they reinforce rather than compete with each other.
  • Build and own a content/social performance dashboard - engagement, growth, and community sentiment.
  • Report regularly to the CMO on content and calendar performance - insights, not just metrics.
  • Use AI to generate, iterate, and scale content ideas, captions, and calendar planning.
  • Keep stakeholders and leadership updated on what's live, what's upcoming, and what's needed from them.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Storyteller Galaxy by co-elevating with all team members through collaboration, cooperation, and camaraderie.
  • Contribute to other initiatives and responsibilities as needed to support business priorities and team success.

Work Schedule:
  • Generally M - F from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST

Work Location:
  • In office: Birmingham, AL, Storyteller Headquarters

Qualifications/Skills:
  • Proven track record owning social strategy and execution for a consumer brand, ideally within the "enthusiast" categories.
  • Strong storyteller and writer, fluent in translating brand voice across formats and channels.
  • Experience building and managing a content/editorial calendar across multiple channels.
  • Experience owning or contributing to a cross-functional marketing calendar (product, PR, sales, events).
  • Comfortable directing or producing photo/video content, and briefing creative partners with clarity.
  • Community management experience - engaging authentically with an online audience.
  • Analytical with the ability to read social and content performance data and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Highly organized project manager who can keep many moving pieces on schedule without dropping anything.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and driving projects forward without being told.
  • Experience building or managing a premium, consumer-facing brand with a deeply engaged affinity community.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving.
  • Fluency with social/content tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social, Canva, CapCut, Adobe, or similar) a plus.
  • AI native / power user
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in platforms, trends, and priorities.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in social media, content marketing, or brand marketing.
  • Leader by example, ability to roll up sleeves and do the work.
  • Lifestyle-based, Motorsports, Automotive, Outdoor, or RV Marketing Experience a plus.

Physical Requirements:
Candidates should be prepared for the following:
  • Sitting: The majority of the workday will be spent sitting at a desk, using a computer, and performing tasks that require sustained attention and focus.
  • Light Lifting: Occasionally, employees may need to lift and carry boxes or office supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Reaching and Stretching: There may be instances where reaching or stretching is required to access files, office equipment, or supplies.
  • Visual and Mental Concentration: The position may require employees to read documents, analyze data, and perform tasks that demand a high level of visual and mental concentration.
  • Repetitive Tasks: Some tasks may involve repetitive motions, such as filing, scanning, or using office equipment, which may require attention to ergonomics and comfort.
  • Ability to Sit and Stand for Meetings: Meetings or discussions may require employees to sit or stand for varying periods.

It is important to note that this job primarily involves office-based work, and the physical demands are generally minimal. Accommodations will be provided as needed to ensure the comfort and well-being of employees in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Exemption Status: Exempt
