General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP)Locations: Mercy Medical Center – Aurora, IL & Holy Family – Des Plaines, ILPosition Type: Full-Time / DaysSpecialty Focus: Wound Care & Surgical Services

Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with strong wound care experience to join our surgical team. This role supports providers across Mercy Medical Center in Aurora and Holy Family in Des Plaines, requiring flexibility to travel between both sites. The APP will provide high-quality, patient-centered care, focusing on wound management, wound debridement, and support of general surgery workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform wound assessments, ongoing wound care, and wound debridement (sharp debridement required).• Manage acute and chronic wounds in collaboration with the General Surgery team.• Conduct patient evaluations, develop treatment plans, and participate in interdisciplinary care planning.• Provide pre- and post-operative surgical care, including follow-up visits and patient education.• Document all care in the EMR in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.• Coordinate care across both clinical sites, ensuring consistent communication with the surgical team.• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Illinois.• National board certification required.• Minimum 1–2 years of wound care experience, preferably in surgical or hospital-based settings.• Competency and experience in wound debridement.• Current BLS/ACLS (or ability to obtain before start date).• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work independently.• Ability to travel between Aurora and Des Plaines regularly.
