Job description

 Southern California Clinical Research part of Southern California Dermatology clinic in Santa Ana, CA is currently seeking a dedicated Clinical Research Advanced Practice Provider.
About this Opportunity
The Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will work closely with the Principal Investigator to support various clinical research studies at Southern California Clinical Research. This role involves performing medical assessments, ensuring compliance with study protocols, and providing direct patient care to research subjects. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will also be responsible for educating patients about their treatment and managing any medical concerns that arise during the trials.
Responsibilities
  • The Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will work closely with the Principal Investigator to support clinical research studies that specifically focus on diabetes and weight management. This is a unique opportunity to work with the Principal Investigator who is a national leader on cutting edge treatments including GLP/GIP medications.
  • This role involves performing medical assessments, ensuring compliance with study protocols, and providing direct patient care to research subjects
  • The Candidate will also be responsible for educating patients about their treatment and managing any medical concerns that arise during the trials
  • Serve as Sub-Investigator on clinical research studies
  • Assist with the implementation and execution of clinical study protocols
  • Ensure compliance with protocol requirements mandated by sponsors, SOPs, IRBs, and the FDA
  • Complete research activities such as physical examinations, reviewing source documents, and reviewing laboratory assessment and safety exams.
  • Coordinate with the Principal Investigator to ensure adequate coverage for clinical research functions
  • Be on call for clinical research subjects as needed
  • Perform medical tests and administer investigational medications during clinic visits
  • Provide education to study patients regarding medication dosage and disease treatment
  • Address medical concerns raised by sponsors, IRBs, or the FDA

Requirements
  • Valid Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant licensed in California
  • Internal medicine and/or family medicine experience preferred
  • Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate in scientific language
  • Certified Diabetes Educator or Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management is desired.
  • Experience in clinical research settings is not required.
