Position Summary
The Advanced Healthcare Practitioner provides primary medical care in a clinical setting under the supervision of a licensed physician. Working through physician approved protocols, the Advanced Healthcare Practitioner evaluates patients, ensures quality assurance standards are met by following all guidelines of physicians and Titus County Memorial Hospital, and collaborates with physicians and local health care facilities to provide delivery of services available for patient's needs.
Essential Functions
-Utilizes training to identify areas of patients' needs to treat or refer.
-Demonstrates competency of Nurse Practitioner skills.
-Teaches and counsels patients on health education.
-Interprets data to identify patient needs relative to age-specific needs.
-Provides care based on knowledge of growth and development.
-Obtains a complete history and problems on patient presentation.
-Evaluates patients as outlined in physician approved protocols.
-Provides indicated medical treatment according to protocols.
-Reviews EKGs, radiology, pathology and other diagnostic reports.
-Documents all relevant patient information in patient's chart.
-Dispenses and documents the dispensation of sample drugs.
-In emergencies, administers life-saving procedures per protocols.
-Consults regularly with supervising physician.
-Provides clinical supervision and routine clinical training for staff.
-Assures the philosophy, objectives, and policies are carried out.
-Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives.
-Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure.
-Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Work Experience
-One year of experience in a hospital or clinic setting is desirable.
Education
-Licensed by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse or by State of Texas as a Physician Assistant required.
-BLS (Basic Life Support) required upon hire date.
