Overview

The Training Scheduler works in a team environment to manage the scheduling of pilots for all required training, build schedules for instructors, and track development for instructors while also working through day to day changes in crew and instructor training requirements due to changes in available resources.

Responsibilities
  • Run reports to determine crewmembers due for recurrent ground and sim training each month.  Assembles a bid list of pilots to bid for training and works with Crew Planning to assure crewmembers bid upon and are awarded appropriate training
  • Build instructor schedules for full-time instructors, part-time instructors, non-seniority list instructors and ground instructors
  • Book travel and hotel for instructors and pilots in training as required
  • Adhere to FAA and company policy for developing new instructors and adding additional qualifications to existing instructors. 
  • Monitor instructor schedules in CrewTrac to ensure accurate pay
  • Coordinate scheduling, tracking, and efficient utilization of instructors, check airmen, and simulator usage
  • Prepare simulator schedules for pilots in long term training and awards/assigns schedules according to pilot bids
  • Serve as on-call scheduler no more than 1 week per month.  As on-call scheduler is required to answer the on-call phone and respond to and resolve after-hours issues
  • Ensure flight and ground training events and assignments adhere to FAA regulations, Company policies, and the Air Line Pilots Agreement (ALPA).
  • Assist fellow schedulers and advanced planning specialists when needed
  • Work closely with Crew Scheduling and Crew Planning to coordinate the efficient utilization of aircrew
  • Schedule, monitor, and coordinate daily training events and activities of all professional flight instructors, ground instructors, check airmen, and line pilots
  • Coordinate adjustments and changes to the daily schedule due to simulator maintenance, unsatisfactory training events, and postponed, delayed, or modified training.
  • Ensure changes to published schedule are communicated to program managers, Crew Planning, Crew Scheduling, instructors, check airmen, and crewmembers in a timely manner.
  • Inform the Manager, Crew Training Resources and Training Planner on daily scheduling, training event, and crewmember training status.
  • Communicate via phone and e-mail with crewmembers scheduled for training.
  • Computer work, in a typical office environment, sitting for the majority of the day.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred
  • 1 year of experience in customer service
  • 1 year of airline scheduling experience preferred
  • Reliable and self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Ability to multi task efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines
  • Interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • PC proficient in Microsoft Office products and general internet applications
  • Experience with CrewTrac preferred
  • Ability to work additional hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
  • Repetitive motion such as: typing and phone work.
  • Minimal physical exertion such as: pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of boxes, bags, files, and electronic equipment not in excess of 30 lbs.
  • Limited travel as needed
