Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. What you'll do: The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the technical execution of new product and technology development projects within Eaton's Electrical Sector portfolio.

This role ensures technical excellence, product integrity, and compliance with Eaton engineering processes and applicable industry standards for low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution equipment. The position provides engineering leadership for the design, development, validation, and sustainment of low-voltage switchboards, switchgear, panelboards, motor control centres (MCCs), automatic transfer switches (ATS), medium-voltage switchgear, and medium-voltage motor control centres (MV MCCs). The role supports the application of advanced engineering methods, including CFD analysis, thermal and structural evaluations, seismic qualification, and arc-resistant design principles.

It also drives continuous improvement in engineering tools, product development processes, certification activities, product governance, and design standardisation across Canada. Essential Functions: Lead the execution of new product and technology development projects from concept through commercialisation, ensuring technical excellence, schedule adherence, cost targets, and business objectives are achieved. Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and sustainment of low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution assemblies and equipment, including switchboards, switchgear, panelboards, motor control centres (MCCs), automatic transfer switches (ATS), medium-voltage switchgear, and medium-voltage motor control centres (MV MCCs).

Lead the development and review of engineering designs, 3D models, drawings, product documentation, manufacturing deliverables, and technical specifications using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and other engineering design and product lifecycle management tools. Guide the application of advanced engineering and simulation methodologies, including CFD, thermal, structural, mechanical, and seismic analysis, to support product development, optimization, and validation. Lead product validation and certification activities, including functional, thermal, mechanical, environmental, seismic, dielectric, and arc-resistant testing, as required.

Serve as a technical authority for the mechanical design, integration, validation, and certification of power distribution equipment, including MCCs, medium-voltage switchgear, GIS technologies, arc-resistant equipment, and related applications. Ensure compliance with applicable CSA, UL, ANSI, IEEE, IEC, and other regulatory, industry, and product certification requirements. Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, marketing, certification agencies, and external suppliers.

Drive resolution of complex technical, manufacturing, supplier, and customer issues through structured problem-solving, risk assessment, and sound engineering judgement. Develop product roadmaps, technology strategies, design standards, and technical governance processes that support growth, innovation, competitiveness, and long-term business objectives. Champion continuous improvement in engineering processes, design automation, product governance, documentation control, PLM/Enovia workflows, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 8 years of experience in the design, development, and application of power distribution equipment. Strong technical expertise in low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution assemblies and equipment, including switchboards, switchgear, panelboards, motor control centres (MCCs), automatic transfer switches (ATSs), and medium-voltage motor control centres (MV MCCs).

Experience applying advanced engineering tools and simulation methodologies, including CFD, thermal, structural, mechanical, and seismic analysis to support product development, optimization, and validation. Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or actively working towards registration. Advanced knowledge of power distribution products, manufacturing processes, product applications, and industry practices

Strong understanding of CSA, UL, IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and other applicable industry standards governing power distribution equipment. Experience supporting product certification programs, standards compliance, and regulatory approval activities. Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, DFMA, DFMEA, design review, and continuous improvement methodologies within product development and manufacturing environments.

Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is considered an asset. Skills: Strong technical leadership and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to make sound engineering decisions while balancing technical, commercial, quality, and operational considerations. Recognized expertise in the mechanical design, integration, validation, and certification of power distribution equipment, including switchboards, switchgear, MCCs, medium-voltage equipment, GIS technologies, and arc-resistant assemblies.

Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and guide cross-functional teams through complex product development and commercialisation activities. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills, with the ability to influence decisions across multiple functions and organizational levels. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, marketing, certification agencies, suppliers, and customers.

Ability to balance business objectives, technical requirements, cost, risk, quality, and schedule considerations throughout the product lifecycle. Strong understanding and application of DFMA, DFMEA, Lean Six Sigma, risk assessment, and structured problem-solving methodologies to improve product quality, reliability, manufacturability, and operational excellence. Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, including 3D modelling, assembly design, engineering documentation, drawing creation, and engineering change implementation.

Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, engineering excellence, technical governance, standardisation, and continuous improvement across product development and sustainment activities. All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
