Electrical Engineer - Transmission/Substation
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Professional Engineer (PE) / Sr. Electrical Engineer with 7+ years of experience to provide engineering, technical expertise and leadership for Transmission and Substation design teams. Our client has been in business for over 50+ years and is a stable energy solutions provider, renewable energy integrator, and leading engineering and power delivery infrastructure firm specializing in engineering, construction and maintenance of transmission, distribution, substation infrastructure, grid modernization, and battery storage projects.
Our client is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer is responsible for managing multiple priorities and complex tasks. Directing and mentoring electrical design and engineering staff to ensure workflows align with client expectations and project goals. Serve as the primary electrical discipline lead for large, complex projects. Candidate will interface with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders. Must have expertise and knowledge of electrical engineering principals and have project experience in one or more of these fields: power delivery infrastructure projects, power distribution, generation, electric utility, etc. PE License is required or must be willing/ability to obtain.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead engineering efforts related to design and implementation of transmission and substation electrical engineering power distribution systems and power delivery infrastructure projects.
  • Provide expertise in the identification, analysis, review, and resolution of engineering, technical and design problems.
  • Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
  • Thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Develop engineering documentation, schematics, and technical specifications aligned with applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Create substation civil-structural drawing packages.
  • Develop last relationships with clients / customers and collaborate with internal teams and project stakeholders.
  • Manage the performance of the team, monitor deliverables, schedules, delegate project work.
  • Support project execution including schedule, quality, calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and technical oversight.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5-7+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer within the electrical industry, high preference working with power delivery projects.
  • 4+ years of experience with transmission or substation projects.
  • PE Certification Required
  • Ability to develop and write reports, documentation, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent mathematical skills to interpret and apply concepts, perform calculations, compute rates, ratio, percentages, units of measure, weight measurement, volume, distance, etc. to drawings and spreadsheets.
  • Advanced electrical engineering concepts to resolve design issues and to provide recommendations, ability to interpret engineering technical specifications and implement within engineering drawings, civil structural designs, etc.
  • Outstanding communication skills to present to clients/customers, vendors, and management teams and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated, team player.
  • Leadership skills and project management capabilities.
  • Analytical, think both creatively and logically with great problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visit client sites as needed.
