About the Role
A leading Healthcare Pharmacy enterprise is seeking a visionary and operationally sound Senior Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations to champion strategic excellence across their acute care pharmacy enterprise. In this role, you won't just manage workflows-you will serve as a crucial bridge between pharmacy practice, multidisciplinary hospital executives, and clinical leadership.
Operating in a fast-paced, 24/7/365 acute care hospital environment, you will have true ownership over operational budgets, clinical workflows, and talent development. Key Responsibilities
Operational & Strategic Leadership

  • Translate Strategy to Action: Convert high-level business plans into daily tactical goals, managing resources, operational costs, and forecasting needs across multiple inpatient units.
  • Champion Talent: Directly lead, mentor, and advocate for supervisory personnel, pharmacists, interns, and technicians. Oversee performance management guidelines, open coaching loops, and robust succession planning.
  • Build Bridges: Establish strong collaborative relationships with Medical Centre Leaders (including Nursing, Physicians, Lab, and Infusion) to streamline practices and align clinical priorities.
Clinical & Drug Use Management
  • Optimize Care & Compliance: Design, evaluate, and implement complex pharmacotherapeutic drug regimen guidelines and advanced workflows that improve patient care and compliance.
  • Trend Analysis & Supply Chain: Partner with senior healthcare providers to analyse market trends and upcoming medications, forecasting their impact on utilization. Leverage inventory data to escalate drug availability issues enterprise wide.
  • Formulary & Compounding Oversight: Approve updates to compounding master formulas, formulary dispensing records, and pharmacy software templates.
Governance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure Regulatory Excellence: Maintain absolute compliance across teams with state/federal laws and regulatory bodies (including the DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, and HIPAA).
  • Resolve Complex Inquiries: Act as the ultimate escalation point for complex process outcomes or member inquiries, utilizing innovation and ingenuity to resolve systemic issues.
Position Requirements
Must-Haves (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree (e.g., Bachelor of Pharmacy from an accredited school).
  • Licensure: Active Washington State Pharmacist License is strictly required at the time of hire (or must be fully cleared to practice by start date). National Provider Identifier (NPI#) required within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience & Leadership (One of the following tracks):
    • Completion of a PGY1 residency plus a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pharmacist/Intern.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pharmacist/Intern (without residency).
  • People Management: At least 3 years of experience in a direct leadership role with full accountability for direct reports (including solid-line hire/fire authority) in a hospital setting.
  • Budget Accountability: At least 2 years of experience directly managing operational or project budgets.
Highly Valued Skills & Experiences (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Leadership experience within a 24/7/365 acute care, inpatient hospital environment.
  • Completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 residency.
  • Familiarity working within and navigating a Union environment.
  • Specialized clinical background or oversight in Critical Care/ICU, Med-Surg, Infusion, or Emergency/Urgent Care.
  • Hands-on experience helping steer hospital expansion or scaling efforts.
