Excelcare at Lewes is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Preventionist (RN) to join our leadership team. This dual-role position plays a vital part in supporting the Director of Nursing while overseeing the facility's infection prevention and control program to ensure the highest quality of care for our residents.

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Preventionist (RN) Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing daily clinical operations and supervising nursing staff to ensure exceptional resident care.

  • Lead and maintain the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations.

  • Monitor infection trends, EMARs, wound care practices, and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with all CMS, state, and local regulatory requirements through audits, education, and ongoing quality initiatives.

  • Provide training, mentorship, and support to nursing staff on clinical best practices, infection prevention, and professional development.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized resident care plans.

  • Investigate, track, and report infections, lead outbreak response efforts, and promote antibiotic stewardship initiatives.

  • Address resident and family concerns with professionalism and compassion while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Preventionist (RN) Qualifications:

  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Delaware

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred

  • Infection Preventionist experience or certification (or willingness to obtain certification) preferred

  • Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations, infection control standards, and best practices

  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
