Job description

Position Summary

MKS2 is seeking an experienced Editor to support the preparation, editing, and publication of professional manuscripts and publications. The ideal candidate will possess strong editing, formatting, and publication production skills, with expertise in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and experience preparing documents for publication.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) in English or a related field with an English concentration
  • 5-10 years of experience in manuscript editing and document preparation for publication
  • Advanced proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Adobe InDesign
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe Illustrator
    • Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
Responsibilities
  • Edit, proofread, and prepare manuscripts and professional documents for publication
  • Develop and format publication-ready materials using Adobe InDesign
  • Prepare and edit images for publication using Adobe Photoshop
  • Create and modify charts, maps, and graphics using Adobe Illustrator and PowerPoint
  • Generate PDF documents and publication packages using Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with publication standards
  • Coordinate publication timelines and support document production efforts
  • Maintain version control and document management processes
  • Submit weekly and monthly status reports outlining project progress, accomplishments, and upcoming deliverables
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure publication requirements are met
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting government, military, academic, or professional publication environments
  • Familiarity with publication style guides such as Chicago Manual of Style or AP Style
  • Experience managing multiple publication projects simultaneously
