Job Overview
Komatsu is embarking on a global initiative to transform our eCommerce experience, seeking a Technical Lead specializing in Adobe Commerce Cloud within a headless architecture to support global digital commerce initiatives.
The Technical Lead - Adobe Commerce plays a critical role in enabling Komatsu's global digital commerce transformation initiatives, with an opportunity to shape enterprise commerce capabilities within a modern headless architecture. The role requires collaboration across Digital Office and enterprise IT structures to ensure technical excellence, governance alignment, and scalable delivery.
This role resides within the Digital Office and operates in a cross-functional SAFe/Agile POD structure. While separate from the traditional IT reporting structure, the position requires extensive coordination with enterprise IT, DevOps, integration teams, infrastructure groups, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and platform strategy.
The Technical Lead will provide hands-on technical leadership for the Adobe Commerce Cloud layer of a complex, multi-layered headless ecosystem. This includes architecting scalable commerce services, leading development standards, and ensuring reliable API delivery to downstream platforms.
The role requires active contribution to Adobe Commerce codebases and is structured as approximately 50% hands-on development time and 50% technical leadership.
Success in this role requires strong technical depth, influence-based leadership, and the ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams and organizational boundaries.
Key Job Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
  • Lead technical design and development for Adobe Commerce Cloud within a headless architecture.
  • Define scalable, secure, API-driven commerce services using GraphQL and REST.
  • Establish and enforce development standards, coding practices, and architectural guardrails for the commerce platform.
  • Participate in enterprise architectural review forums to ensure alignment with IT governance and platform standards.

Agile POD & Cross-Functional Delivery
  • Serve as the technical lead within a SAFe/Agile POD structure, partnering closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, UX, QA, DevOps, and integration teams.
  • Participate in Program Increment (PI) planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and technical estimation activities.
  • Identify and manage cross-team dependencies across Digital Office and IT functions.
  • Provide influence-driven leadership in environments where infrastructure, release management, and DevOps functions reside within separate IT organizations.

Development & Code Quality
  • Contribute hands-on to Adobe Commerce development, custom module design, and enterprise integrations.
  • Build and maintain integrations between Adobe Commerce and ERP, PIM, payment services, tax engines, inventory systems, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Lead code reviews and pull request processes to maintain high standards of quality, security, and performance.
  • Ensure adherence to established branching strategies, development workflows, and repository standards in collaboration with DevOps and IT teams.
  • Implement performance optimization and scalability improvements within Adobe Commerce Cloud.

Operational Support & Platform Stability
  • Support production issue triage and root cause analysis in coordination with IT and DevOps teams.
  • Contribute to long-term scalability and platform resiliency planning.
  • Mentor developers and promote continuous improvement within the POD and broader digital engineering community.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline required.
  • Experience: 5+ years with Adobe Commerce (Magento) in enterprise-scale implementations.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex, multi-layered headless commerce architectures at scale.
  • Deep knowledge of Adobe Commerce Cloud architecture, custom module development, API strategy, and performance optimization.
  • Experience integrating commerce platforms with enterprise systems (ERP, PIM, DAM, CRM, payment services).
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and API design principles.
  • Experience working within SAFe or scaled Agile environments.
  • Familiarity coordinating within organizations where DevOps, infrastructure, and release management are managed by separate IT functions.
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerized deployment environments.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across distributed global teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and ability to influence without direct authority.
