Job description

High Point University's Senior Regional Admissions Counselor serves as a key member of the Undergraduate Admissions team in a remote capacity, responsible for developing and executing a strategic recruitment plan within an assigned geographic territory. This role focuses on identifying, engaging, and enrolling academically qualified students while representing the university's mission and value.
This position requires a high level of autonomy, relationship-building, and data-informed decision-making to effectively manage a remote recruitment territory. The counselor will serve as the primary ambassador for the institution within their region, cultivating strong partnerships with students, families, and school counselors.
Candidates must reside within Chicago, IL.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 3-5 years of experience in college admissions, recruitment, or a related field

    • Establishes and monitor goals related to inquiries, applications, campus visits, admits, and enrollments
    • Analyzes territory performance and adjust strategies to meet enrollment objectives

  • Student Recruitment & Engagement
    • Builds meaningful relationships with prospective students and families through in-person and virtual interactions
    • Clearly articulates the value of the university experience across all stages of the admissions funnel
    • Provides personalized guidance to prospective students throughout the admissions process
    • Ensure timely follow-up and consistent communication with all stakeholders

  • Partnerships
    • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with high school and independent counselors
    • Identifies and prioritizes key schools and organizations to maximize recruitment impact
    • Coordinates counselor engagement opportunities, including campus visits and events

  • Application Management
    • Evaluates applications and render admissions decisions in partnership with university leadership
    • Ensure alignment with institutional standards and enrollment goals

  • Travel & Events
    • Travels extensively within the assigned region to attend college fairs, high school visits, recruitment events, and more. Approximately 6-10 weeks in fall and 3-4 weeks in spring, and travel as needed in the summer for territory events and programs
    • Represents the university at on-campus events
    • Participates in travel to campus for training and collaboration, approximately 5-7 times per year

    • Utilizes CRM systems to manage communications, track engagement, and maintain accurate records

  • Team Collaboration
    • Contributes to broader admissions initiatives, including active participation in committee work and cross-functional support
    • Fosters a collaborative and professional team environment
