Job description

METER is seeking a Sales Administration Specialist I. Ensuring a world-class client experience, the Sales Administration Specialist interfaces with both Account Executives and clients via phone and email to gather and provide accurate pricing and terms, enters sales order information, and evaluates and solves client purchasing problems. As part of receiving and processing orders, this role also facilitates communication and documentation between sales, production, and shipping/logistics and ensures prompt and proper movement of each order through to shipment of goods and/or services. The Sales Admin Specialist also fulfills departmental roles by assisting with renewal services, providing basic quotes, conducting specific data searches as requested by the Account Executive, and assisting with other detailed responsibilities within the sales administrative processes, including other pre-sale activities.
In addition, this role provides foundational Sales Development support, including list building, basic CRM data management, reporting, and pipeline support to help the sales team operate efficiently and focus on revenue-generating activities.
The Sales Administration Specialist is a service-oriented role. Whether assisting clients or working with the sales team and other internal departments, it is vital to METER Group's success that the person in this role works hard to deliver a high level of support.
This position works from our Pullman, WA headquarters.
For informational purposes, the entire pay range for this role is $20.56 -$26.05. However, we expect to make an offer at somewhere between $20.56 and $23.50. Please keep this in mind when applying for this role. We are open to reviewing candidates with more or less experience; the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our offer will be based on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
Essential Functions
Sales Administration
  • Interface directly with clients and internal sales team members via phone and email to deliver high-quality support.
  • Receive, enter, and process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify pricing, contract terms and conditions, shipping requirements, warranty information, payment terms, and special or confidential customer instructions.
  • Secure accurate order data through established verification processes.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Shipping/Logistics, Production, and other internal teams to ensure on-time and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Monitor and support timely order processing through established KPIs and goals.
  • Communicate general product information effectively to customers.
  • Resolve customer order issues-typically minor in nature-to the satisfaction of both the customer and the company.
  • Prioritize individual and team workload to meet deadlines and business needs.

Sales Development & Reporting Support
  • Build, maintain, and update prospect and customer lists based on defined criteria (industry, geography, application, etc.).
  • Conduct basic account, contact, and data research to support Account Executives and sales initiatives.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate data in CRM and related systems to support pipeline visibility and reporting.
  • Assist with standard sales reports, dashboards, and activity tracking (e.g., order volume, lead flow, renewal activity).
  • Perform additional assignments and responsibilities as skills and knowledge develop.

Required Technical and Functional Skills
  • Ability to work effectively within customer- and company-established deadlines.
  • Adaptability to changing environments affecting sales, order processing, and sales support activities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with diplomacy in handling customer and internal requests.
  • Sound understanding of purchase contracts, including terms and conditions, as well as shipping methods and terminology.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and sales tools, with strong attention to data accuracy.
  • Efficient use of computer systems and software (including Microsoft products) and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Experience using multi-line phone and telecommunications systems.
  • Strong organizational, reporting, and follow-through skills.
  • Results-driven work style with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent English language skills - written and verbal
  • Experience in an E-Business environment, including Salesforce and Netsuite
  • 2 years of post-high school education with emphasis in business, marketing, office occupations, and/or client service
  • Bachelors or experience in an environmental science is a big plus

Work environment: Office setting including the use of a variety of office equipment and computer systems and frequent work interruptions
