Human Resources Generalist

Reports To: Human Resources Manager

Pay Type:  $80,000 - $85,000 Annual Salary

Type: Full-Time

Location: Auburn, WA

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist supports the Human Resources department by performing a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, HR recordkeeping, performance management, payroll support, and recruitment. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position partners closely with the HR team to provide exceptional service to employees and managers while ensuring HR processes are efficient, accurate, and compliant.

This role complements the existing HR team by providing comprehensive generalist support, with a particular emphasis on assisting with payroll administration and supporting recruitment activities as business needs require. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.


Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Administration
  • Support daily HR operations and serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding activities.
  • Assist with employee relations matters by responding to routine questions and escalating complex issues to the HR Manager.
  • Support performance management processes, including documentation and performance review administration.
  • Assist with employee engagement, recognition, and wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Maintain personnel files and other confidential HR documentation.
  • Prepare reports, metrics, and other HR-related documentation.
  • Participate in HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
Payroll Support
  • Assist with payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation.
  • Review and audit employee time records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Process new hires, employee changes, promotions, transfers, and separations within payroll systems.
  • Coordinate with payroll providers or internal payroll personnel to resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and assist with issue resolution.
  • Support payroll audits and year-end processing activities.
  • Maintain payroll-related records and documentation.

Recruitment Support

  • Partner with hiring managers and the HR team to support recruiting efforts across the organization.
  • Create and post job openings.
  • Screen applications and coordinate interviews.
  • Conduct reference and background checks as appropriate.
  • Prepare offer letters and support pre-employment activities.
  • Assist with onboarding to ensure a positive new hire experience.
  • Maintain applicant tracking system records and recruiting metrics.
  • Collaborate with the HR Generalist specializing in recruiting to ensure timely and effective hiring processes.
Compliance and Benefits Administration
  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee questions.
  • Support compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.
  • Assist with HR audits and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information and sensitive records.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

QualificationsExperience
  • Two to five years of progressive Human Resources experience in a generalist role.
  • Hands-on experience supporting payroll administration and payroll-related processes.
  • Experience supporting or managing full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Experience working with HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and HR compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the home services industry, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, restoration, or other field service organizations.
  • Experience using Paycom HRIS and payroll software.
  • Experience recruiting skilled trades, technicians, operations, or field service personnel.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting a growing organization with multiple locations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of Human Resources principles, employment laws, payroll practices, and HR best practices.
