Job description

BMA is seeking a Database Administrator to join our team. This is a remote position.
Job Summary
  • Provides all activities related to the administration of computerized databases.
  • Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function.
  • Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment.
  • Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
  • Advises users on access to various client/server databases.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
  • Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end /back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL).
  • Performs database programming and supports systems design.
  • Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.

Clearance Requirements
There is a Secret clearance requirement for this role.
Required Skills & Certifications
• DoD 8570/8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (i.e., CompTIA Security+ ce, CCNA Security, CND, SSCP, etc.)
• 5+ years of progressive experience of database query languages such as Oracle, PL SQL, SQL Server, MS Access, etc.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with a Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
• Computing Environment certifications, one or more of the following: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (e.g., OCI Architect Associate/Professional), Oracle Database 19c Administrator Certified Professional, IBM Certified Database Administrator (Db2 11.5 or Cloud Pak for Data), SQL Server 2019/2022 certifications under Azure role-based paths, Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate
• Experience working on various operating systems such as Windows (10/11), Windows Server (2019/2022), Unix (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX), Linux, Amazon Linux, Flatcar Linux, Kubernetes, etc.
• Experience with one or more programming languages, including SQL, C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Golang, Rust, etc.
• Experience supporting two or more projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database.
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization, including indexing, query optimization, analyzing execution plans, partitioning, memory management, etc.
• Experience with one or more of the following Oracle AWR, SQL Profiler, PostgreSQL, EXPLAIN, Performance Monitor, or similar tools.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning, includes but not limited to RMAN (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server Always On, point-in-time recovery.
• Experience with securing sensitive data, includes encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access control (RBAC), auditing, data masking, etc.
• Familiarity with cloud database platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud

• Bachelor of Arts or Science (BA / BS) Degree in relevant field.
