Purpose of Role

SUST/IND 338 Food and Agriculture Issues: The course integrates the science associated with food production with the social, political and economic issues influencing agriculture, food processing, distribution and access, safety and policy. Current and future use of sustainable practices in agriculture, labor and immigration issues and global food distribution will be discussed.

About This Opportunity

Joining our Global & Local Sustainability team, the Adjunct Professor will be responsible for the following:

Adjunct faculty member to teach a course in Food and Agriculture Issues for students of all majors during Fall 2025 semester. This course will provide an overview of the environmental impacts of conventional and sustainable agriculture, the social issues with labor in the food supply chain and access to healthy foods across different communities, and domestic and global economic issues related to food production, trade and food safety. Knowledge and Skills:

-Experience with & active learning; in both an online and face to face modality -Demonstrate analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement and evaluate educational activities to assure compliance with established goals and objectives -Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents -Strong time management/organizational skills -Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations

$2800 per semester

Required Qualifications

-Candidate should possess a master's degree or higher in an appropriate field, have experience that relates to the course material and facility with the online environment. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
