Job Summary: MidAmerica Nazarene University, located in Olathe, Kansas, invites qualified candidates to apply for an Adjunct Professor to teach a Genetics lecture course and corresponding lab. This course is the study of the fundamental principles of inheritance considering the molecular, cytological, and population evidence. This course is a requirement for all Biology majors. The instructor must be willing to travel to MNU. Genetics lecture is being offered on Mondays and Thursday 8:00-9:15. Genetics lab is being offered on Tuesdays 3:00-6:00.
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate section of Genetics and related lab
- Develop and deliver engaging course materials, including syllabi, lectures, labs, and assessments aligned with the course learning outcome
- Facilitate laboratory sessions, ensuring student safety and competency in standard genetic techniques
- Integrate current scientific literature and real-world applications into coursework
- Thoughtfully address the intersection of genetics and Christian faith within the curriculum where appropriate
- Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner
- Provide meaningful, constructive feedback on assignments and exams
Education Qualifications/Skills Required:
A successful applicant will share the universityโs mission of Christ centered transformation, a commitment to excellence and innovation, and possess the following:
- Earned Doctorate (Ph.D.) or Master's degree (M.S. or M.A.) in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the University's statement of faith
- Ability to teach from within a Christian worldview framework without compromising academic rigor or scientific integrity
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage diverse learners effectively
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- This is a part-time, semester-by-semester appointment
- Course loads are assigned based on departmental need and enrollment
- Compensation is provided on a per-credit-hour basis in accordance with university adjunct pay schedules.
