Prairie State College seeks student-centered adjunct faculty to teach developmental reading & writing (ENG 099) in person at our Chicago Heights campus during the Fall 2026 semester.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following: excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a flexible, student-centered approach to teaching writing; the ability to engage a diverse student population; and familiarity with research/scholarship concerning pedagogy and the community college environment.
The English Department offers a collegial and supportive faculty peer environment, with opportunities for substantive faculty development.
Reporting Relationship Essential Responsibilities Other Duties and Responsibilities Working Conditions/Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in English or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching at the community college level strongly preferred; priority will be given to candidates with graduate coursework and/or training in the teaching of writing.
