The Department or Restorative Sciences in the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor for predoctoral didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical learning in restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, and associated areas. Support of advanced training programs (AEGD and Prosthodontics) may be expected, consistent with candidate experience and department mission. Opportunities for scholarship, service, and faculty practice are available. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Abilities
Patient care; interprofessional collaboration; curriculum organization; implementation and assessment; student mentoring and assessment; interest and participation in scholarly activity; service based on interests and experience.
Knowledge
All aspects of clinical dentistry related to Restorative Sciences in support of learning, scholarship, and service.
Skills
All relevant organization, communication as an oral health clinician, educator, and scholar in support of RS and adjunctive areas.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 65%
Support clinical learning for students, faculty, and peers in didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical settings using best evidence. Supervise and mentor students/residents with oral health care in DMD and/or Advanced Education programs (PROS, based on credentials). Develop, administer, and provide informal/formal student performance assessment. Support program didactics.
Service - 10%
Collaborate with faculty and serve as mentor for students/residents regarding research and scholarly activities leading to presentations and publications.
Scholarship - 5%
Obtain committee appointments both within the DCG and campus-wide. Complete necessary training required by the department, the DCG, and AU.
Clinical - 20%
Provide patient care in the DCG faculty practice and maintain quality standards for compliance with all DCG policy.
Required Qualifications
US DDS, DMD or foreign equivalent
Must be eligible for Georgia Dental License or Georgia Dental Faculty License
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in advanced technologies, digital workflow, including dental implants, American Board of Prosthodontics Certification or progress toward.
Advanced Operative, Advanced Restorative or CODA Advanced Prosthodontics.
Prior experience in dental education with demonstrated ability to work productively in didactic and clinical educational environments. History of publications. Clinical experience.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
