Job description

Adjoint Instructor; Per Diem CRNA/CAA

The Department of Anesthesiology has an opening for a part-time, per diem (hourly) Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiology Assistant (CAA) at the faculty rank of Adjoint Instructor. The chief responsibility of the department is to assure the best possible outcomes for our patients having surgical operations, painful invasive procedures, and childbirth. The University of Colorado affiliated hospitals have top, nationally recognized providers delivering the best possible anesthetic care as well as a full range of perioperative care. The anesthetist provides specialized care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Per Diem CRNA/CAA administers care under the medical direction of an attending Anesthesiologist.
  • Anesthetists are expected to document pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care appropriate to the case and to cooperate with the requirements of the department's quality assurance review process.
  • The position is part-time and will be assigned to work at the University of Colorado Hospital. As faculty members of the School of Medicine, candidates are expected to contribute to the teaching needs of the Department and the School. This includes providing hands-on, one-on-one instruction when assigned to work with a trainee in the OR. There are no expectations or requirements to teach outside of the OR.
  • This position is per diem (hourly, part-time) and will be able to pick up vacant or available shifts at the University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus on a month-to-month basis. Shift availability is determined by the Department. When shifts become available, the Adjoint Instructor will be notified and will have the option of picking up the shift or passing on the shift. All shifts will be at least eight hours. This position will not be eligible to pick up call shifts.
  • Candidates must have a strong working and theoretical knowledge of Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Medicine as well as experience in teaching Anesthesiology. All Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and Certified Anesthesiology Assistants must be licensed to practice in the State of Colorado.

Work Location: Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited nurse anesthetist or anesthesiologist assistant educational program.
  • Active certification by the council on accreditation of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists or American Association of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • Successful application for the advanced practice registry and licensed as a registered nurse by the Colorado State Board of Nursing.
