Job description

Manufacturing Finishing & Spray Painting Specialist

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Pay: $20–$25 per hour DOE (Depending on Experience)

Main Purpose

The Manufacturing Finishing & Spray Painting Specialist is responsible for painting, dyeing, and finishing SLS parts to customer specifications. This position requires producing high-quality finished parts using best practices while minimizing part rework and returns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and finishing requirements.
  • Prepare parts for secondary finishing operations, including, but not limited to, sanding, gluing, plugging, dyeing, masking, dipping, sealing, and painting.
  • Properly handle parts throughout each stage of the finishing process.
  • Understand surface finish requirements and contamination prevention methods.
  • Safely and proficiently use hand tools, including drills, sanders, measuring devices, and cutting tools.
  • Safely operate paint booth equipment, including spray guns, ventilation systems, and air compressors.
  • Inspect finished parts for paint defects, cracks, and proper coating thickness.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while practicing Foreign Object Debris (FOD) control.
  • Follow all required personal protective equipment (PPE) procedures, including the use of respirators, face masks, and paint coveralls.
  • Provide continuous feedback regarding production timelines and opportunities to improve finishing and painting processes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous materials (HazMat) and ensure chemicals are handled and stored in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Wear a respirator for extended periods as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a small paint booth for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small business environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
  • Experience with spray painting, manufacturing finishing, or similar production environments preferred.
  • Experience with SLS parts or additive manufacturing is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with paint booth equipment, hand tools, and safe chemical handling practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Skills, Experience, and Aptitude

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience with SLS technologies, strong computer skills, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. The Finish Specialist must follow safe paint bench procedures when handling chemicals and safely operate all related equipment and power tools. The successful candidate will work well with individuals at all levels within the company, as well as with customers and vendors.
