What is addiction recovery?

Addiction recovery is the process through which individuals overcome dependence on substances or behaviors that negatively impact their lives. Recovery often involves a combination of medical treatment, counseling, support groups, and lifestyle changes. The goal is to achieve and maintain sobriety, improve overall well-being, and rebuild relationships and daily functioning. Recovery is a lifelong journey that can include setbacks, but with the right support, many people achieve lasting positive change.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an addiction recovery counselor, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Addiction Recovery Counselor, you need a background in psychology, counseling, or social work, often supported by a relevant degree and state certification or licensure. Exceptional listening, empathy, and motivational skills help build trust and encourage positive change in clients. Position Overview

The Recovery Care Center is seeking a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. This unique role focuses on providing targeted therapeutic interventions to patients undergoing detoxification, fostering an environment that promotes healing and recovery. This position is integral in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery, ensuring they receive empathetic care and effective treatment strategies.

About the Organization

The Recovery Care Center is recognized for its commitment to delivering exceptional mental health services to individuals in various stages of addiction recovery. Our team embodies a multidisciplinary approach that values compassion, evidence-based treatments, and ongoing support. Our mission is to empower patients of all ages by enhancing their mental health outcomes and well-being, making us a trusted provider in the Columbia, Maryland area.

Work Environment

This position is designed to be fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from home while still being part of a dedicated team. Although you will primarily engage with patients virtually, you will be collaborating closely with a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists and nurses, to ensure that care is holistic and patient-centered. The remote setting allows for a flexible work-life balance, accommodating a rotating schedule that may include evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) that address the complexities of addiction recovery.
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings with healthcare professionals to discuss patient progress, coordinate care, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health diagnoses, available treatment options, and medication management, ensuring they understand the journey ahead.
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions, employing various therapeutic modalities suited to each client's unique circumstances.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that reflect the goals and preferences of each patient while collaborating with the broader treatment team.
  • Assist patients in navigating the mental health system, advocating for their rights and taking proactive steps to address their needs.
  • Lead therapeutic group sessions and psychoeducation workshops, creating a supportive atmosphere for patients to share experiences and learn coping strategies.
  • Coordinate discharge planning meetings to ensure continuity of care as patients transition from detox to outpatient services.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our patient population primarily includes individuals of all ages experiencing challenges related to addiction and substance use disorders. The Recovery Care Center's detox facility is designed for those in acute withdrawal or early recovery stages, requiring nuanced understanding and compassionate interventions. As an LCSW, you will play a pivotal role in helping these individuals stabilize and develop a solid foundation for further recovery.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is mandatory.
  • Deep knowledge of mental health disorders, evidenced-based therapy practices, and principles of crisis intervention.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting is crucial.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working within addiction recovery or detox environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with telehealth practices and relevant technology platforms that facilitate remote therapy sessions.
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating group therapy sessions and psychoeducational activities.
Compensation and Benefits

The Recovery Care Center offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, along with a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates. Our benefits package includes comprehensive health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision needs, as well as retirement plans with employer matching contributions. We provide generous paid time off, promoting a healthy work-life balance, and flexible scheduling options. Additionally, ongoing professional development opportunities are available to help you advance your career.

Career Growth Opportunities

Joining The Recovery Care Center means being part of an organization committed to your career development. We encourage our LCSWs to pursue additional certifications, attend workshops, and participate in training sessions that will enhance their expertise in the field.
