Starting Rate: $35/hr. with up to 16 hour/week

Location: 9 First Ave SW Minot, ND 58701

Now hiring a Licensed Addiction Counselor- Part-time at MTC Lives Transformed North Dakota (Location: Minot or Williston, ND.)

Position Summary: 

Reports to the program director. Performs highly complex addiction counseling. Work involves planning, coordinating, and implementing addiction counseling activities using Free Your Mind and Seeking Safety curricula to ensure the maximum utilization of resources available for treatment and rehabilitation in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (ND DOCR) directives. 

Essential Functions: 

1.Assists in planning addiction counseling programs; and coordinates the delivery of counseling services to clients with histories of chemical use, abuse, or addiction.

2.Provides a comprehensive evaluation from a battery of valid measurement tools to assess the recovery needs and the re-offense risk of offenders.

3.Provides counseling and recovery skills training; participates in client orientation, educational and individual and process counseling groups in compliance with program standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

4.Maintains client records and other records regarding services provided to include statistical feedback on evaluations; and compiles data and submits reports and related documentation as appropriate.

5. Completes required forms, assessments, progress reports, or other documents for each client on caseload to reflect level of participation and quality of completion.

6.Submits required documentation to appropriate authority as required for each client during and at completion of program.

7.Utilize approved curriculum and provide appropriate treatment programming and structured activities as required for contractual compliance.

8.Regular and predictable attendance is required.

9.Coordinates or participate in transition meetings, treatment team meetings and other required program driven support, recovery-based activities as required by contractor.

10.Travel as directed will be required.

11.Promotes the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

High school diploma or GED and current licensure as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counselor Examiners required. Individuals pursuing addiction counseling licensure through supervised internship experiences may also be considered. Employment is contingent on becoming licensed by an agreed upon date. Valid driver’s license in the state of North Dakota with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. 

Post Hire Requirements: 

Must complete preservice program and annual training requirements. Must successfully pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by ND DOCR. Must pass drug screen. Must complete training as required and approved by ND DOCR. Must receive training in the Principles of Effective Intervention, cognitive behavioral interventions, and the use of reinforcement to support behavioral change.
