Mental Health Therapist – Residential Behavioral Health

Location: Lantana, FL

Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site | Monday–Friday with one rotating weekend day every other week

Avento Health, a recruiting agency, is recruiting for a full-time Mental Health Therapist / Registered Intern Therapist for a residential behavioral health program in Lantana, FL.


This role is a strong fit for a Florida Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, or a master’s-level clinician who is eligible and willing to register upon hire.


The therapist will work with adults in a structured residential treatment setting focused on mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. This position offers a manageable residential caseload, consistent clinical structure, and the opportunity to build strong experience in individual therapy, group therapy, treatment planning, assessment, and clinical documentation.

Position Summary

The Mental Health Therapist will provide clinical services to adults in a residential behavioral health treatment program. The therapist will support clients through individual counseling, group therapy, biopsychosocial assessment, treatment planning, progress monitoring, discharge planning, and clinical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual therapy and group therapy to adults in a residential behavioral health setting

Manage an individual caseload of approximately 10–11 residential clients

Facilitate four caseload process groups and one group with the residential clients per week

Complete biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation

Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough clinical documentation

Support clients with mental health, substance use, addiction, and co-occurring disorders

Use evidence-based, trauma-informed, and client-centered approaches in care delivery

Monitor client progress and update treatment plans as clinically appropriate

Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to coordinated care planning

Collaborate with clinical leadership, medical, nursing, operations, case management, and admissions teams

Maintain ethical, professional, and client-centered standards of care


Qualifications

Active Florida Registered Intern status required, or willingness and eligibility to register upon hire

Eligible credentials include Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern ( RMHCI ), Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern ( RCSWI ), or Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern ( RMFTI )

Experience with substance use treatment, addiction treatment, dual diagnosis, residential treatment, or adult behavioral health preferred

Residential treatment experience preferred, but not required

Strong clinical documentation skills

Ability to work effectively in a structured behavioral health treatment setting

Strong communication, organization, and clinical judgment

Experience in a for profit treatment setting

Preferred Background

Experience in residential treatment, addiction treatment, substance use treatment, dual-diagnosis care, or adult behavioral health

Familiarity with treatment planning, clinical documentation, medical necessity, and quality documentation standards

Comfort working with adults who may have co-occurring behavioral health, substance use, psychosocial, and case management needs

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary clinical teams


Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position in Lantana, FL.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a rotating weekend requirement in which each therapist works one weekend day every other week.
