Job Title: Licensed Psychologist

Location: Leavenworth, Kansas

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Setting: Onsite detention/institutional setting



Overview

Avento Health has partnered with a healthcare organization providing behavioral health services in a secure institutional setting to identify a Licensed Psychologist for an onsite opportunity in Leavenworth, Kansas. This role is well suited for a psychologist who is comfortable working in a structured environment, collaborating across disciplines, and supporting individuals with complex behavioral health needs.


Responsibilities

Conduct psychological screenings and assessments through chart review, interviews, and clinical evaluation.

Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and level of functioning.

Provide counseling, crisis support, and interventions for individuals experiencing acute behavioral health concerns.

Complete regular rounds in confined housing areas to assess adjustment and treatment needs.

Collaborate with clinical and operational staff to support coordinated care and timely intervention.

Help evaluate behavioral changes, escalation triggers, and changes in mental health status.

Support the delivery and coordination of psychological service programming within the facility.


Required Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university.

Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in Kansas.

At least 2 years of clinical experience, including 1 year in a comparable role.

Ability to work onsite in a secure institutional environment.


Preferred Qualifications

Prior corrections or detention experience.

Experience with crisis intervention, behavioral health assessment, and interdisciplinary care teams.


Skills

Strong psychological assessment and treatment planning skills.

Knowledge of counseling theory and intervention techniques.

Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and documentation skills.

Ability to remain calm and effective in high-acuity or fast-paced situations.


Work Environment

This is an onsite role in a secure detention setting. The psychologist will work directly with individuals in care and collaborate with clinical and operational staff throughout the facility.
