As a Sr. Database Engineer I (Natural/Adabas), you'll be administering Software AG Adabas and Natural databases, maintaining security and access controls, enabling analytics, trouble shooting and resolving bugs, issues, etc., and guiding environment refreshes and upgrades to meet business and compliance needs.

What you'll do:

  • You will be recognized as the center of competence for all matters involving the design or use of the database.
  • You will be responsible for all aspects of the continued operation of the database
  • You will ensure that DBMS-compatible standards are understood and observed
  • You will be expected to resolve problems for the benefit of the organization as a whole.
  • You will stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our database processes

What you'll need to succeed:

  • 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Natural and ADABAS in enterprise environments
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related IT discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience developing and supporting Natural applications (online and batch)
  • Extensive experience performing:
    • Complex debugging and root-cause analysis
    • Production issue resolution and performance tuning
    • Ad-hoc data analysis and reconciliation
    • Demonstrated ability to write and maintain clear technical documentation, including program specifications and operational runbooks
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • ADABAS database structures, files, and access paths
    • Natural subprograms, maps, and batch processing
    • Job scheduling and execution via JCL and/or SCL

SALARY RANGE: $105,000 - $119,000 

The salary range for this position is determined based on qualifications, skills, and relevant experience. The final salary offered will be determined based on several factors including: 

  • The candidate's professional background and relevant work experience
  • The specific responsibilities of the role and organizational needs
  • Internal equity and alignment with current team compensation
  • This role is also eligible for additional compensation, subject to the terms and policies of MetroStar, which may include:
    • Performance-based bonuses
    • Company-paid training and/or certifications
    • Referral bonuses
