How much do ada coordinator jobs pay per year?
What is the difference between Ada Coordinator vs Accessibility Specialist?
| Aspect | Ada Coordinator | Accessibility Specialist |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | ADA certifications, training in accessibility laws | ADA certifications, accessibility standards knowledge |
| Work Environment | Construction sites, public facilities, government agencies | Design firms, consulting agencies, government offices |
| Employer & Industry | Public sector, construction, architecture | Design, consulting, non-profits |
Both roles focus on ADA compliance, but Ada Coordinators typically oversee implementation on-site and ensure legal adherence, while Accessibility Specialists often analyze and develop accessibility solutions in design or policy contexts. The roles overlap in credentials and industry usage, but differ in daily responsibilities and work settings.

Job description
The Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven ADA Coordinator to join the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access (ODEIA). This is an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact within one of the largest and most influential public service organizations in Massachusetts. Serving more than 1 in 3 residents of the Commonwealth and supporting a workforce of over 24,000 employees, EOHHS is committed to fostering an environment where accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity are embedded into every aspect of its work. In this highly visible role, the ADA Coordinator will help ensure that employees, applicants, and members of the public have equitable access to programs, services, and employment opportunities while advancing a culture of inclusion and belonging across the secretariat.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of DEIA, the ADA Coordinator will serve as a trusted resource and subject matter expert on disability accommodation and accessibility matters, supporting compliance with federal and state laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with leaders, employees, applicants, vendors, and stakeholders across multiple agencies to develop innovative solutions, improve processes, and strengthen accessibility initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of disability rights, accommodation practices, and accessibility standards, along with exceptional communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills. Candidates who are passionate about advancing equity, removing barriers, and helping create an accessible and inclusive workplace where all individuals can thrive will find this role both rewarding and impactful.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
Serve as the primary ADA Coordinator, ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state disability and workplace accommodation laws, regulations, and policies.
Act as the primary point of contact for employees, applicants, managers, and stakeholders regarding accommodation requests, accessibility concerns, disability-related inquiries, and pregnancy-related workplace accommodations.
Manage the full accommodation process from intake through resolution, including conducting interactive discussions, assessing requests, developing accommodation recommendations, and ensuring timely and equitable outcomes.
Maintain comprehensive records of accommodation requests, case activities, decisions, and resolutions across multiple tracking and human resources systems.
Coordinate the procurement, distribution, installation, and implementation of assistive technology, adaptive equipment, and other accommodations to support employee accessibility needs.
Draft correspondence, determinations, reports, and supporting documentation related to ADA and PWFA requests while ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements.
Conduct reviews of facilities, programs, services, policies, and practices to identify accessibility barriers, evaluate compliance, and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
Analyze accommodation trends, track key metrics, develop reports, and recommend strategies that improve efficiency, responsiveness, and overall program effectiveness.
Collaborate with ODEIA leadership and agency partners to advance accessibility initiatives, promote universal design principles, and strengthen disability inclusion throughout the workplace.
Develop and deliver training, presentations, and educational resources for managers and staff on topics related to disability rights, accessibility, reasonable accommodations, self-identification, and compliance obligations.
Support workforce diversity and inclusion efforts by helping implement initiatives designed to increase the recruitment, retention, engagement, and advancement of individuals with disabilities across EOHHS.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of federal and state laws governing disability rights, workplace accommodations, equal employment opportunity, accessibility, and nondiscrimination, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA).
Experience managing and coordinating reasonable accommodation requests in a complex organizational environment, document confidentiality, including conducting the interactive process and developing accommodation solutions.
Demonstrated ability to interpret laws, regulations, policies, and guidance related to disability access, employment practices, and workplace accommodations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information and build productive relationships with employees, applicants, managers, executives, and external partners.
Skilled in developing correspondence, reports, presentations, policies, procedures, and documentation related to accommodation and accessibility programs.
Familiarity with accessibility standards, universal design principles, assistive technologies, and best practices for creating accessible and inclusive workplaces and public-facing services.
Capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience tracking data, developing metrics, analyzing trends, and making recommendations to improve processes and outcomes.
Experience designing and delivering training, educational programs, or presentations related to accessibility, disability inclusion, accommodations, diversity, equity, inclusion, and compliance topics.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, influence stakeholders without formal authority, and contribute to initiatives that advance accessibility, equity, and inclusion across a large and diverse organization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.
