Network & Systems Administrator / Tier III
Location: Washington, DC (On-site, 5 days/week, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Hourly rate: 45-50/hr.
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Network & Systems Administrator (Tier III) to support and maintain a hybrid Microsoft-based IT environment. This role bridges advanced end-user support and systems administration, requiring a hands-on professional who can operate across both infrastructure and user-facing responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Microsoft 365 administration, hybrid Active Directory environments, and PowerShell scripting, with the ability to manage and automate large-scale system changes.
Key Responsibilities
Systems & Cloud Administration
  • Administer and configure Microsoft 365 (M365) environment, including user management and service optimization
  • Manage hybrid Active Directory (on-premises and Azure AD/Entra ID) environments
  • Support and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure, including Azure resource management
  • Administer tools such as Microsoft Defender, SCCM, Intune, and Azure Management services

Network & Infrastructure Support
  • Support LAN/WAN network infrastructure across corporate and field offices (Phoenix, Los Angeles, and remote users)
  • Perform system patching, upgrades, and maintenance across servers and endpoints
  • Assist with light infrastructure management across cloud and on-premises servers

End-User & Tier III Support
  • Provide advanced (Tier III) technical support for complex system and user issues
  • Act as an escalation point between help desk/end-user support and engineering teams
  • Support a distributed workforce with both on-site and remote users

Automation & Scripting
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks
  • Perform bulk user and system management tasks (e.g., account provisioning, deprovisioning, updates)
  • Execute large-scale changes such as bulk account disabling, cleanup, and device wiping
  • Generate automated reporting (e.g., AD user attributes, system data extraction)

Provisioning & User Lifecycle Management
  • Manage user onboarding and offboarding processes within AD/M365
  • Provision devices and user accounts in accordance with company policies
  • Ensure secure and efficient access management across systems

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in systems and network administration
  • Strong experience in Microsoft 365 administration and configuration
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Active Directory (on-prem and hybrid environments)
    • Azure (cloud services and management)
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
    • Microsoft Defender, SCCM, and Intune
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting experience (automation, bulk actions, reporting)
  • Experience supporting LAN/WAN environments
  • Ability to operate at a Tier III support level

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud environments transitioning from on-prem to cloud
  • Familiarity with endpoint management in cloud-based environments
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across both systems and networks
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations with remote users
