Job Title: Activities Assistant

Job Summary

Provides group and one-to-one therapeutic recreation to all program participants.

Essential Job Functions

  • Guides, directs, and monitors participants during group activities to assist in maintaining or surpassing his/her social, emotional, cognitive and physical levels of functioning
  • Assists Director with activity planning as needed
  • Maintains documentation in a neat and legible manner
  • Deals appropriately with the special needs of participants and their families
  • Reports any abnormal signs and/or symptoms to Nursing Manager/Supervisor and the Department Director immediately

Job Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • Training in Therapeutic Recreation is desirable

Experience:

  • A minimum of one year experience presenting activities to an aging population desirable

Licenses/Certifications:

  • N/A

Abilities Required

  • Friendly, outgoing, positive personality
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of the work group, and participants
  • Sensitivity to the needs of an aging population
  • Computer knowledge preferred
