Job description

Summary

This position will be responsible for assisting in providing a diverse program of activities that enhances and meets the individual needs of the residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Plan and provide for the social needs and activities of residents assigned to the Activities Assistant.

· Follow daily routines which provide an environment most stimulating and beneficial to residents assigned.

· Coordinate with nursing schedules of bowel and bladder management, informing nurse or nurse assistant on duty when resident has need for bowel or bladder care.

· Leading exercises appropriate to resident level.

· Planning and conducting activities appropriate to resident level.

· Assist with grooming as instructed.

· Encourage fluid intake.

· Report any change of condition, unusual behavior, restlessness, agitation or social habits to supervisor or charge nurse on duty.

· Chart and document activities and work with individual residents as required by Bethany policy and state and federal regulations.

· Attend in-services as required by Bethany policy.

· Assist with activity planning, bulletin boards, decorating for special occasions, making or changing calendars, posting activity notices in resident rooms or halls, passing newspapers, etc. as assigned by the Activities Supervisor.

· Coordinate and work cooperatively with volunteers assigned to activities.

· Assist with the transport of residents for meals and in-house activities.

· Do other duties as may be assigned by the Activities Supervisor.
