Amount of Travel Required: Some travelย 

Work Schedule: 9:00am-5:00pm plus weeknights and weekendsย 

Positions Supervised: SGA Executive Board ย ย 

POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Student Activities is a position in the Student Life Office. As the Assistant Director of Student Activities, this position assists the overall goals of the Student Activities department through helping oversee the Campus Activities Board (CAB), Raven Orientation Camp (ROC) and being the primary advisor for the Student Government Association. This position helps coordinate the national March for Life trip and the Kansas March for Life trip. Additionally, this position assists with all student activities, signature weekends and student leadership initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSย 

  1. Assist Director of Student Activities with Campus Activities Board (CAB)
  • Help with overall planning, communicating and executing campus activities
  • Responsible for taking point on 2-3 signature events per semester (typically alternating chronologically with Director)ย 
  • Aid in the coordination and chaperoning of the remaining campus Signature Weekends
  • Meet regularly with student leaders to help coach them in event planning processย 
  • ย Aid in forming CAB leadersย 

2. ย ย Assist Director of Student Activities in planning and executing Raven Orientation Camp (ROC) and Spring ROC

  • ย Oversee the Logistics team for the entirety of ROC in fall and spring
  • Assist as needed beforehand and throughout the week in planning and chaperoning events

3. ย ย Serve as moderator/advisor for Student Government Association (SGA)

  • Form and develop Student Government Executive Board Members
  • Meet weekly (or as necessary) with each member of SGA Executive Board
  • Attend all Executive Board meetings and important Senate Meetings
  • Attend and oversee all major functions of SGA
  • Act as department liaison with SGA
  • Work to ensure safety & security at all major SGA functions
  • Oversee and sign all contracts with outside vendors
  • Assist Treasurer in managing SGA & all club budgets

4. Coordinate the National March for Life and Kansas March for Life

  • a. Work with March for Life coordinator to plan travel, lodging and itinerary of the trips
  • b. Attend the March for Life and act as main contact for students in DC

5. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Activities or Vice President of Student Life.

Experience

ย Applicants for this position are encouraged to have a minimum of one year of higher education experience in student development or related field. Experience at a Catholic institution of higher education preferred.
