Reports to: Director of Hospitality Operations

Summary: Pearlstone is a dynamic and multi-faceted retreat center comprised of campus rentals, aquatics, catering services, conference facilities and overnight accommodations. The Campus Associate position is a part-time role to assist in the day to day operations focused on customer service, guest check-in, parking, overall cleanliness of the Campus including pavilions, locker rooms, rest rooms, and grounds. Assist in assigned activities of ropes for Retreats, Getaways, and public activities as well as other duties when assigned by supervisors. This position reports to Campus Supervisor/Director of Hospitality Operations They must possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor. Pearlstone Center is not close to the public bus line, so reliable transportation is required. This is a part time position working up to 25 hours per week, with access to some of our benefits. A flexible schedule is required. There is growth potential to a full benefit eligible, average thirty hours per week schedule for candidates who prove consistent and reliable, demonstrate a strong work ethic, high performance, and ability to complete certifications and training.

Tasks/Responsibilities: Campus Associate may be assigned to any of the following job duties. Supervisors reserve the right to determine which task(s) an associate is assigned to based on Campus needs as well as the individual's strengths and experience.

  • Greeting Guests: Warmly greet guest as they arrive and administer wrist band dedicated to their group. Keep track of the number of wristbands distributed per group. Direct guest to appropriate location. Answer questions as they arise pertaining to the facility.
  • Parking Attendant Direct cars and vendors to the appropriate location for parking. Maintain an efficient and organized parking area that allows for cars to safely park and exit, while maximizing space.
  • Maintenance Ensure signage is placed in appropriate locations. Set up pavilion for guest arrival. Including picnic tables, garbage bins, recycling bins, and other requested items. Ensure bathrooms are unlocked, clean and fully stocked prior to guest arrival and throughout the day. Removal of trash throughout the guest stay. Pick up trash on the facility grounds throughout the day.
  • Group Liaison Responsible for contact with group leader throughout the day. Support other Campus Associates in fulfilling their responsibilities. Maintain contact with Campus Supervisor /Event Coordinator throughout the day. Provides sports equipment bag to the group leader and retrieves at the end of the group rental and ensures all equipment is included and not damaged. Provides first aid kit to the group leader and retrieves at the end of the group rental and ensures all items are restocked if necessary. Assist in staffing of all rope's activities.
  • General duties: Wears appropriate uniform for Campus Associates, including name tag. Inform supervisor of need to reorder supplies, paper products and other shortages. Provide top notch customer service to all guests, assist guests with luggage/boxes upon check-in and check-out, and answer general guest inquiries. Other tasks/duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Mental, Physical and Visual Skills: Must be able to follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions with several concrete variables. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, and do calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages. Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing. Must be able to do heavy work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, moving furniture and performing such activities as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, walking, pushing, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Have visual requirements of mid-range vision.

Working Conditions: This is a NON-EXEMPT position with varied work hours. Works in a normal retreat center and outdoor environment. Potential exposure to noise due to exhaust fans and equipment, cleaning chemicals, hot and cold temperatures and fast work pace due to meeting deadlines. All requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with a disability. Evaluation: Ninety days from date of employment date. Thereafter, annually on anniversary date.
