We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Activities Assistant to join our Longview department. The Activities Assistant will be responsible for assisting with planning, developing and organizing recreational programs in accordance with existing federal, state and local standards, to assure that the spiritual, emotional, physical, intellectual, recreational and social needs of the residents are being met on an ongoing, individual basis. Provides assistance with meal service. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of Christian Health.
Competencies:
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Assisted Living Principles including Resident choice, privacy, independence, dignity in all interactions with resident.
  • Reports observations/changes in resident condition to nurse.
  • Accurately records daily attendance in a timely manner and adding any comments of behaviors, as needed.
  • Provides coverage at front reception desk.
  • Assists with implementing activity programs.
  • Publicizes programs among the residents and encourages participation.
  • Assists in maintaining activity equipment.
  • Assists with distribution of individual calendars, inform residents/families to activities available.
  • Assists with gathering to and assistance during meals.
  • Assists Activity Coordinator with facility outings.
  • Forwards requests for activity supplies to Activity Director and/or Coordinator.

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday and Every Other Weekend 8am - 4pm.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity programs.
  • Must have a sincere desire to work with the elderly.
