YOUR DAY AS OUR IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Each day as an IT Support Specialist, you begin by reviewing your queue and responding to client inquiries promptly, courteously, and professionally. You answer incoming phone calls from clients and provide clear, friendly technical assistance, ensuring every interaction reflects a commitment to exceptional customer service. Throughout the day, you travel on-site to client locations to resolve issues in person, building strong relationships and delivering hands-on support that keeps their operations running smoothly.

You manage multiple tickets and calls simultaneously, documenting each case thoroughly and escalating issues when appropriate. Your ability to communicate effectively, make sound decisions, and work independently ensures that problems are resolved quickly and accurately. With client satisfaction as your priority, you maintain a pleasant and professional demeanor in all interactions-whether with executives, IT teams, or end users. Before wrapping up, you confirm that all tickets are updated and resolved, and you submit your timesheet promptly to maintain utilization requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant experience supporting computers and/or providing technical support
  • Experience working on a help desk or for a managed service provider (MSP)
  • Clear career path interest toward server, networking, or cybersecurity engineering
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable personal vehicle and ability to travel throughout Western NY
  • Strong proficiency with support tools and PC software troubleshooting
  • Experience with major antivirus solutions (ESET, SentinelOne, Windows Defender)
  • Skilled with remote access tools (LogMeIn, ScreenConnect, TeamViewer, VNC)
  • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and mail flow
  • Familiarity with Active Directory (AD), IoT devices, and workstation peripherals (USB/NAS drives, printers/MFPs)
  • Cybersecurity awareness and hands-on bestpractice experience
  • Support experience with iOS and Android mobile devices
  • Expertise with Windows 11 and Microsoft 365/Office 365
  • MacOS experience a plus
  • PC building or advanced hardware experience (for example, gaming rigs or graphics cards) is a plus
