Job description

Ivy Tech Bloomington is looking for an individual to join their team as Adjunct Faculty for American Heart Association (AHA) CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) training programs through the Ivy+ Career Link office. This position will provide instruction for non-credit CPR/AHA courses delivered on campus and is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on teaching and helping learners build critical emergency response skills.
Working Hours: Class schedules will vary based on program need. Courses will be held on campus, and specific days/times will be determined based on demand and instructor availability.
Compensation: Adjuncts are paid $50 per contact hour (hours with students).
Interviews will occur on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
General Purpose and Scope of the Position:
Ivy+ Career Link adjuncts are hired each term on an as-needed basis to instruct specific Skills Training programs. Ivy+ Career Link adjuncts are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi and course objectives provided.
This position will oversee classroom instruction for American Heart Association (AHA) CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) training programs delivered through Ivy Tech Community College's Career Link office.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned CPR/AHA courses in accordance with American Heart Association standards, course objectives, and College policies.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology and instructional tools to enhance training and support a variety of learning styles.
  • Develops and maintains course outlines, lesson plans, training materials, and instructional resources as required by American Heart Association guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate student records, course documentation, and certification paperwork as required by the College and American Heart Association.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and contribute to a positive training experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Demonstrates the use of active teaching strategies and hands-on training methods to ensure students successfully demonstrate required CPR and emergency response skills.
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner and complies with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must hold a current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor certification.
  • Must have attended the AHA Training Institute update for the current renewal period.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CPR and emergency response training standards.
  • Ability to effectively instruct adult learners in both classroom and skills-based training environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching CPR, First Aid, BLS, or other emergency response courses.
  • Experience training healthcare professionals, first responders, or adult learners.
  • Experience delivering hands-on instruction or simulation-based training
