Acquisitions Intern information

What does an acquisitions intern do?

An Acquisitions Intern assists with evaluating and sourcing potential investment or purchase opportunities for a company, often in industries like real estate, publishing, or corporate finance. Typical responsibilities include market research, financial analysis, preparing reports, and supporting the due diligence process for new acquisitions. Interns might also help with administrative tasks, communicate with stakeholders, and learn about the negotiation and closing process. The role offers valuable exposure to the decision-making and strategic planning involved in company growth through acquisitions.

What types of projects or tasks can an acquisitions intern expect to work on during their internship?

As an Acquisitions Intern, you'll typically assist with researching potential investment opportunities, performing due diligence, and compiling market analysis reports. You may be involved in preparing presentations for internal review meetings, supporting financial modeling, and helping to coordinate communications between the acquisitions team and other departments like legal and finance. This hands-on experience provides valuable exposure to the deal-making process and helps you build practical skills in real estate or corporate acquisitions, depending on the company’s focus.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an acquisitions intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Acquisitions Intern, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a foundation in finance or business, often supported by progress toward a relevant degree. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, CRM systems, and financial modeling tools is commonly expected. Effective communication, organization, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills. These competencies are crucial for evaluating potential deals, supporting transaction processes, and ensuring smooth coordination within the acquisitions team.
