Certified Personal Trainer

Indian Hills Country Club – Mission Hills, KS

IHCC is one of Kansas City’s premier private clubs located in Mission Hills, Kansas that home over 600 families of which take full advantage of the many amenities. IHCC features multiple dining options, fitness facility, outdoor pool, tennis courts, pickleball and a world class championship golf course.

Under the leadership of the Director of Fitness and Wellness, the Personal Trainer(s) are responsible for the preparation and instruction of personalized exercise prescriptions. They must be an example of health and fitness and will work to motivate members by building and nurturing positive relationships.

They will provide a positive member experience that is safe, educational, supporting, and upholds the integrity of IHCC.

Reports to: Director of Fitness and Wellness

Type of Employment: Independent Contractor

Areas of Responsibilities (but not limited to):

• Provides personal assessments and PAR-Q for all assigned members to review fitness goals, physical abilities, and conditions to create a personalized fitness routine.

• Works to instruct members on proper techniques for exercise and equipment.

• Works continually to retain members and consults with the Director of Fitness and Wellness where help is needed.

• Is present on the fitness floor and aids members when needed.

• Demonstrates and maintains the image of a Training Professional by adhering to the following:

  • Always acknowledge members with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
  • Begin member sessions on time and focuses 100% attention during each training session.
  • Notifies and confirms with the Fitness and Wellness Manager before altering (skip, cancel, or reschedule) member sessions.
  • Wears only IHCC approved attire.
  • Updates through club software with each member clients’ specific pre-written/typed program throughout each training session
  • Continually evaluates members status and physical changes and adjusts plan where necessary for optimal performance and improvement.
  • Cleans/replaces equipment after use during and after each session and assists on fitness floor for cleanliness.
  • Demonstrates, and continues to improve, all skills deemed necessary for the position such as organization, timeliness, professionalism, and follow-through.

• Follows-up and continues to serve assigned members at the required time periods and throughout their continued membership, as well as any other assigned retention duties.

• Ensures that all sessions performed have been properly checked-in through club software system and members charges have been assessed to their accounts.

• Utilizes all digital record keeping, processes, and procedures as outlined by the Director of Fitness and Wellness.

• Enforces all Club policies and rules to ensure a safe and comfortable environment in which clients can work out.

• Promotes member relations and exhibits IHCC core values as part of daily routine.

• Works alongside and treats all IHCC employees with the utmost levels of friendliness and respect.

• Maintains clean, organized, and visually appealing self and areas in and around all fitness areas.

• Completes all other duties as directed/assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Outgoing and engaging personality.

• 1+ years of experience in personal training, group instruction, or small group training.

• At least 1 preferred certification from NSCA, ACSM, NASM, NCSF, or ACE.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Nutrition, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, etc.

• Availability for multiple training sessions in the morning, mid-day, and/or evening.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Basic knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• The ability to demonstrate a friendly, courteous, and professional manner while working with members and staff.

• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (Preferred)

• Ability to lift weight up to 50 pounds.
