Job description

Staff Pharmacists

Accredo Specialty Pharmacy, part of Evernorth Health Services, is seeking a staff pharmacists to join their team.

This is a full time remote position. Ideal candidates must reside in AZ, FL, IN, OH, or PA.

During the approximate 6-month training period, the hours will be Monday through Friday 9:00 am - 6 pm Eastern Time for all candidates.

Once training is completed, the shift hours will be Monday through Friday 11:00 am - 8:00 pm Eastern Time for all candidates. There is a 1-week on-call rotation approximately twice per year and 2-Saturdays per year.

Position Summary

As a staff pharmacist with Accredo, you will be responsible for interpreting physicians' prescriptions, contacting prescribers and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions and expediting processing of order. This position is responsible for maintaining and following regulatory guidelines. The staff pharmacist will track order status and outstanding issues as well as consult with patients regarding the use of medications and potential drug interactions. This individual may take calls from customers regarding lost orders or dispensing errors, as well as maintaining daily production, quality and service levels with varying work priorities and activities to accommodate business needs. The staff pharmacist may also train less experienced pharmacists.

Essential Functions

This role is a mixture of consult phone and offline functions with a strong focus on phone interactions with patients, prescribers, and other internal customers

  • Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians.
  • Interpret physicians' or prescribers' prescriptions.
  • Contact doctors and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions such as drug strength, prescription directions, and drug name in order to expedite processing of orders.
  • Collaborate with prescribers closely to tailor overall infusion regimen for patients (pre-medications, adverse reaction medications, etc)
  • Verify prescription information entered in the system by data entry or order entry.
  • Verify refilled prescriptions for accuracy and safety
  • Contact physicians for new and/or transfer prescriptions.
  • Consult with patients regarding the use of medications, potential drug interactions, as well as adverse reactions as well as ways to mitigate those reactions
  • Provide guidance to patients on stability of medications and safe use within professional guidelines
  • Back up other pharmacists as needed, perform additional duties as assigned by management, or train less experienced pharmacists.
Qualifications

Current resident state pharmacist license in good standing.

Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues.

Good oral and written communication skills and ability to ask for support when needed

Ability to read and interpret prescriptions.

Strong focus on customer service with a variety of patient interaction experiences

Strong focus on quality and accuracy while maintaining efficiency in process

Ability to manage time well and ensure good organization for timely progression through training and follow through for patient care

Ability to adapt in a changing environment

Flexibility in day-to-day functional work to accommodate business needs

Ability to navigate IT systems and troubleshoot basic IT issues independently

Ability to make independent decisions quickly to support patient care

Ability to take initiative when challenges arise

An interest in being a lifelong learner including learning new skills, receiving feedback and applying it with goal of continuous improvement

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload. For this position, we anticipate offering an hourly rate of 54 - 91 USD / hourly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
