Job Description Summary:

Responsible and accountable for the overall operation, quality, and accreditation compliance of the residency program. Oversees curriculum development, resident evaluation, faculty effectiveness, and the learning environment, ensuring resident well‑being, professionalism, and patient safety. Manages program resources, supervises residents, and ensures timely completion of all accreditation and institutional requirements. While tasks may be delegated, the Program Director retains ultimate responsibility for program operations and regulatory adherence.

Job Description:

Work Schedule: Average 20 hours per week, remaining time dedicated to clinical practice

• Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with all GME, institutional, and accreditation requirements.

• Participate in GMEC activities and provide required program information and documentation.

• Establish and update program mission, aims, curriculum, and evaluation processes consistent with accreditation standards.

• Ensure accurate program documentation, files, and accreditation submissions, including Annual Program Evaluation.

• Facilitate and review resident, faculty, and program evaluations and required accreditation surveys.

• Manage resident disciplinary actions in accordance with GME and institutional policies.

• Promote a safe, professional learning environment that supports patient safety, resident well‑being, and interdisciplinary quality improvement.

• Monitor and mitigate resident fatigue, ensure continuity of care processes, and oversee supervision practices.

• Select and develop qualified faculty and ensure timely, meaningful resident performance assessments.

• Assign progressive resident responsibility with input from the Clinical Competency Committee.

• Monitor duty hours, work environment, and workloads, adjusting assignments to prevent excessive service demand.

• Oversee confidential resident and faculty evaluations of the program and ensure continuous improvement.

• Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding, and communication processes for residents and program leadership.

• Maintain program fiscal accountability and proactively identify internal and external risks to program quality or accreditation.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Doctorate [Required]

Work Experience:

• 3+ years of related experience [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Medical Doctor (MD), DO, or Equivalent [Required]

• Board Certified in Internal Medicine
