Salary Range: $22.73 - $29.67/hour
Employment with the Canton City School District comes with a full array of benefits. We offer comprehensive health insurance, paid vacations, a retirement plan, and sick time.
This is an open examination. To be eligible for this examination, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or have permanent residence card and be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. Applicants must have no felony convictions.
Since this position is for employment in a school setting, all applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are responsible to the community by setting an appropriate example to the students. In this regard, applicants must not have been convicted of a felony nor be a habitual abuser of alcohol or drugs. Under the authority granted by Ohio Revised Code 3319.311, the Canton City Schools are permitted to do a background check to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation for records on employment candidates.

7. Experience with spreadsheet and data base software

10. Ability to accept change
DESIRABLE:
1. Experience with Microsoft, Excel and Microsoft Word
2. Typing and word processing skills
3. Knowledge of Canton City School System
4. Time management and organizational skills
GENERAL DUTIES:
The responsibilities of an Accounting Specialist include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Works with bookkeepers, educators, and secretaries in solving accounting problems related to grants
2. Monitors expenditures for compliance with local procedures and state and federal regulations
3. Prepares the annual GAAP statements and the 4502 (annual state report)
4. Prepares and distributes financial statements
5. Prepares state and federal reports
6. Assists in the preparation of the annual budget
7. Reconciles bank statements
8. Processes receipts, purchase orders, investments, invoices and transfers
9. Maintains an adequate system of filing
10. Works as a member of a team
11. Performs other duties as directed
