Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to provide leadership and support to an established accounting team during a contract engagement in Columbus, OH. This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the timely completion of month-end activities, supporting financial reporting processes, and serving as a resource for staff development and process improvements. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong accounting background and the ability to quickly adapt within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and oversight of daily activities.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial schedules prepared by staff.
  • Monitor general ledger activity and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audit requests, including preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, and business leaders to address accounting and reporting needs.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial records and adherence to applicable accounting standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 2+ years of prior supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience leading or mentoring accounting staff in a corporate environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, and financial data analysis.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn business processes and make an immediate impact within a contract assignment.
Pay Details: $35.00 to $56.00 per hour
